Palestinian Paralympic Committee
The Palestinian Paralympic Committee ( ar, اللجنة البارالمبية الفلسطينية) is the National Paralympic Committee of Palestine. In 2010, the Palestinian Paralympic Committee and the global aid agency Mercy Corps, started a 2-year program, funded by the European Union (EU). Palestinian Flag
The flag of Palestine ( ar, علم فلسطين) is a tricolor of three equal horizontal stripes (black, white, and green from top to bottom) overlaid by a red triangle issuing from the hoist. This flag is derived from the Pan-Arab colors and is used to represent the State of Palestine and the Palestinian people. It was first adopted on 28 May 1964 by the Palestinian Liberation Organization. The flag day is celebrated on 30 September. The flag is almost identical to that of the extinct Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz and to that of Syria's Ba'ath Party (both use a 2:3 ratio as opposed to Palestine's 1:2), as well as the short-lived Arab Federation of Iraq and Jordan (which had an equilateral triangle at the hoist). Palestinian Territories
The Palestinian territories are the two regions of the former British Mandate for Palestine that have been militarily occupied by Israel since the Six-Day War of 1967, namely: the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip. The 2000 Summer Paralympic Games or the XI Summer Paralympics were held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, between 18 and 29 October. The Sydney Paralympics was last time that the Summer Paralympics which were organized by two different Organizing Committees. Athletics at the 2000 Summer Paralympics comprised a total of 234 events, 165 for men and 69 for women. Athletes were classified according to the extent and type of their disability. * Classes 11-13: visually impaired athletes * Class 20: intellectually disabled athletes * Classes 32-38: athletes with cerebral palsy; classes 32 to 34 competed while in wheelchairs * Classes 42-46: amputees and those with other disabilities (''les autres'') * Classes 51-58: athletes with spinal cord disabilities; these classes competed while in wheelchairs Class numbers were preceded by a "T" for track events, an "F" for field events, and a "P" for the pentathlon.
