Valencia ( va, València) is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third-most populated municipality in Spain, with 791,413 inhabitants. It is also the capital of the province of the same name. The Turia or Túria ( ca-valencia, Riu Túria ; es, link=no, Río Turia ; la, Tūria) is a river in Spain, which has its source in the Montes Universales in the mountain ranges of the northwesternmost end of the Sistema Ibérico, Teruel province. From its source to roughly the city of Teruel, it is called ''Guadalaviar'' river. It runs through the provinces of Teruel, Cuenca and Valencia, and discharges into the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Valencia. The Valencia Orchestra ( ca-valencia, Orquestra de València, es, Orquesta de Valencia) is a symphony orchestra in Valencia, Spain. Founded in 1943 as the Valencia Municipal Orchestra, and a member of the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras (AEOS), it is ''not to be confused with'' the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana, founded in 2006. The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana ( es, Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana), is an orchestra based in Valencia, Spain and the resident orchestra of Valencia’s opera house, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. History The Orchestra was created in 2006 to be the orchestra of the new opera house, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. The first music director of the orchestra was the French-born American conductor Lorin Maazel. He was succeeded in 2011 by Omer Meir Wellber.
