Pakistan National Rugby Union Team
The Pakistan national rugby union team represents Pakistan in international rugby union. Pakistan is a member of the International Rugby Board (IRB), and have yet to play in a Rugby World Cup tournament. As of 2021, they will play in Division II of the Asian championships, having been promoted from Division III in 2019. In the 19 March 2012 IRB World Rankings, Pakistan, along with Mexico and Philippines, were listed for the first time, entering with the base rating of 40 points (which positioned the three national teams in 71st place). Rugby World Cup
The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Cup, named after William Webb Ellis, who according to a popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game. The tournament was first held in 1987 and was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Four countries have won the trophy; New Zealand and South Africa three times, Australia twice, and England once. Asian Five Nations
The Asia Rugby Championship, or ARC, is an annual rugby union competition held amongst national rugby sides within the Asia Rugby region. The competition was originally known as the Asian Rugby Football Tournament when founded in 1969, and was called the Asian Five Nations from 2008 to 2014. The winner of the competition's top division is recognised as the rugby champion of Asia. The top division, sometimes referred to as the Tri Nations, includes the top three Asian teams each season. The World Rugby Rankings (formerly the IRB Rankings) is a ranking system for national teams in rugby union, managed by World Rugby, the sport's governing body. There are separate men's and women's rankings. The teams of World Rugby's member nations are ranked based on their game results, with the most successful teams being ranked highest. A point system is used, with points being awarded on the basis of the results of World Rugby-recognized international matches. Sri Lanka National Rugby Union Team
The Sri Lanka national rugby union team, known as the Tuskers, represents Sri Lanka in men's international rugby union. The team has yet to make their debut at the Rugby World Cup. Guam National Rugby Union Team
The Guam national rugby union team represents the United States territory of Guam in international rugby union. They have yet to make their debut at the Rugby World Cup, though they have attempted to qualify for the World Cup. The national side is ranked 74th in the world (as of 29 July 2019). History Guam attempted to qualify for the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France, taking part in Division 3 Pool B of Round 1a of the Asian qualifying tournament. 2022 Asia Rugby Championship
The 2022 Asia Rugby Championship was the sixth tri-nations series of rugby union matches for the top-level Asia Rugby nations. Due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was cancelled in both 2020 and 2021. The teams competing were Hong Kong, South Korea and Malaysia. Hong Kong were the defending champions, having won in 2019. The format of the tri-nations series was a double round-robin where the three teams play each other twice on a home and away basis. The team finishing on top of the standings at the end of the series was declared the winner. This competition works as an Asian qualifier for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The winner of the competition plays with Tonga to determine the participant for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Division 3 Central 1 was played from 3 to 6 July in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Rugby Union Positions
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types.
