Painting With John
''Painting with John'' is an American unscripted television series created by musician, painter, and actor John Lurie. Each episode features Lurie painting watercolors and reflecting on life, music, and art. A six-episode first season premiered on HBO and its streaming subsidiary HBO Max on January 22, 2021. In August 2021, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on February 18, 2022. The third season of the series began airing on June 2, 2023. The title alludes to Lurie's earlier show, ''Fishing with John'', from 1991. Synopsis Part meditative tutorial, part fireside chat, musician John Lurie shares his philosophical thoughts while honing his watercolor techniques. Voice Of Chunk
''Voice of Chunk'' is a 1988 album by jazz band The Lounge Lizards. The album was produced independently by bandleader John Lurie, following two releases with Island Records. After unsuccessfully shopping the album to several record labels, Lurie decided to hire a company to print copies of ''Voice of Chunk'' and sell it himself through mail-order, promoted with advertisements on television. He reports the album sold about 30,000 copies, a substantial sum for an independent jazz album, but promotional and sales costs were higher than anticipated so the album was not financially profitable. ''Voice of Chunk'' was later re-released on frontman John Lurie's record label Strange and Beautiful Music. The song "Uncle Jerry" was a tribute to Lurie's paternal uncle. Squat Theatre
Squat Theatre (1977–1991) was a Hungarian theatre company from Budapest which left Hungary for Paris and then New York City, where they performed experimental theatre. History Living in Paris in 1977, a friend of the company, Tamas Szentjoby, suggested that they change the name from Kassák Haz Studió to Squat Theatre. Péter Halász (actor)
Péter Halász (August 20, 1943 in Budapest – March 9, 2006 in New York City) was a Hungarian actor, director and playwright. In 1993 he won the Hungarian Film Critics Awards for Best Actor. He founded several theater companies in Budapest and New York City including the Kassák Haz Studió, the "appartement theatre", Squat Theatre, Love Theatre and Varosi Szinhaz. As a film actor he appeared Fat Man and Little Boy (1989), Sunshine (1999 film) (1999), and The Breed, among others. In February, 2006 his terminal liver cancer led to his final performance: lying in an open coffin in a Budapest art museum. He died a month after at the age of 62. In many cultures, several pareidolic images of a human face, head or body are recognized in the disc of the full moon; they are generally known as the Man in the Moon. Street harassment is a form of harassment, primarily sexual harassment that consists of unwanted sexualised comments, provocative gestures, honking, wolf-whistlings, indecent exposures, stalking, persistent sexual advances, and touching by strangers, in public areas such as streets, shopping malls and public transportation. Steve Rubell (December 2, 1943 – July 25, 1989) was an American entrepreneur and co-owner of the New York City disco Studio 54.
