Paalai
''Paalai'' is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language period film written and directed by Senthamizhan, who had previously assisted director Ram (director), Ram in ''Katradhu Thamizh''. Based on Sangam literature, the film is set in 300 BC years and starred debutant Sunil Kumar and Shammu in pivotal roles. The film released with little publicity in November 2011. Cast *Sunil Kumar as Valan *Shammu as Kaayampoo *Prof. V. Natarajan *Jayan *Krishnagiri *Julu Production The film was shot extensively in the forests of Thanjavur, Mysore and Sathyamangalam. Ved Shankar
Vedshanker is an Indian music composer. A former student of A. R. Rahman's school. he made his debut in the Tamil film ''Paalai'' (2010) and then made a breakthrough with his work in ''Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom'' (2012). Career Ved Shankar was a student of A. R. Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, and was one of 15 students selected for training in western classical music at North Eastern University, Boston, funded by the U.S. Department of State. He then trained as a sound designer and was nominated for the META award for Most Innovative Sound Design 2012, be completing his MBA at IIPM, Chennai. Sheerin Sharmilee Ramalingam, professionally known as Shammu is an Indian-born American actress who appeared in Tamil films. She is best known for films such as ''Kanchivaram'', ''Mayilu'' and ''Dasavathaaram''. Background Shammu was born Sheerin Sharmilee in Bikaner, Rajasthan to a Tamil Hindu family that hails from Neyveli. Her family moved to the US and her father, Rajaram Ramalingam, worked as a computer consultant whilst her mother is a housewife. ''Abinandhan Ramanujam'' is an Indian cinematographer who hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is working in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi films. Early life Abinandhan Ramanujam was born in Chennai. Ram (director)
Ram is an Indian film director, who works in Tamil cinema. After assisting Hindi directors Rajkumar Santoshi and working under Balu Mahendra, he made his directorial debut with ''Kattradhu Thamizh'' (2007), which fetched him strong critical acclaim. His second film ''Thanga Meengal'' (2013) also won critical praise and three National Film Awards. He released his next film Taramani in August 2017 which was critically acclaimed and a box-office hit. Irulas
Irula, also known as Iruliga'','' are a Dravidian ethnic group inhabiting the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. A scheduled tribe, their population in this region is estimated at around 200,000 people. People of Irula ethnicity are called ''Irular'', and speak Irula, which belongs to the Dravidian family. Etymology ''Irular'' means "dark people" in Tamil and Malayalam, from the root word ''irul'', meaning "darkness."
