PKP Rail Line 230
PKP rail line 230 is a non-operational PKP cross-province railway line in northern Poland running from PKP rail line 202 at Wejherowo to PKP rail line 229 at Garczegorze. Originally lying entirely within Germany, the first section from Wejherowo to Prusewo opened in 1902 with last section to Garczegorze opening in 1910. The line was closed and disassembled in 1919, in the aftermath of World War I, reopening in 1924. Between the end of World War I and the end of World War II, the stations from Garczegorze to Rybno Kaszubskie were in Germany while the five stations from Zamostne to Wejherowo were in Poland. Services ceased during World War II but the line reopened again in 1946. Following World War II the entire line became Polish. The line was electrified in 1986, but closed to passenger traffic in 1992. It closed to freight traffic in 2001. Wejherowo Railway Station
Wejherowo railway station is a railway station serving the town of Wejherowo, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The station opened in 1870 and is located on the Gdańsk–Stargard railway. The train services are operated by Polish State Railways, PKP, Przewozy Regionalne and Szybka Kolej Miejska (Tricity), SKM Tricity. At the time of building, the station was named after the German name of the town, ''Neustadt (Westpreußen)'', which was reused later under Nazi occupation. The station used to be a junction for the now closed PKP rail line 230, Wejherowo–Garczegorze railway. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in Track (rail transport), tracks. Bytów
Bytów (; csb, Bëtowò; formerly german: Bütow ) is a town in the Gdańsk Pomerania region of northern Poland with 16,730 inhabitants as of December 2021. It is the capital of Bytów County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The origins of Bytów can be traced back to the early Middle Ages when a fortified stronghold once stood near the town. In 1346 as ''Bütow'' it obtained Chełmno town rights from the Teutonic Order, which controlled it since 1329. During the Thirteen Years' War (1454–1466), the town was the site of heavy fighting and changed hands over time. Żarnowiec Pumped Storage Power Station
The Żarnowiec Pumped Storage Power Station is a pumped-storage power station located about south of Żarnowiec, in Puck County, northern Poland. It was constructed between 1973 and 1983 and underwent a modernisation between 2007 and 2011, with the upper reservoir reconstructed in 2006. With a capacity of 680 MW, it is the largest hydroelectric power station in Poland. It uses four 170 MW Francis pump-turbines to send water from its lower reservoir, Lake Żarnowiec, up to an upper reservoir for storage. During periods of high power demand, the water is released back down to the turbines to produce power. Water is pumped back up during periods of low power demand, such as night time.
