PDC Women's World Championship
The 2010 PDC Women's World Championship was the only ever staging of the PDC Women's World Darts Championship, and the first women's tournament to be organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. It was one of the three new tournaments that the PDC created in 2010, following the rejection of its offer to buy out the British Darts Organisation. The initial stages of the tournament were played at the Metrodome in Barnsley on 12 June. The final was played during the World Matchplay at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, on Saturday July 24, where Stacy Bromberg defeated Tricia Wright to become the only champion of the event. Prize money Qualification Qualification was achieved at 20 tournaments throughout the UK and also various national tournaments throughout the world. The Barnsley Metrodome (Metrodome Leisure Complex) is a sports and leisure facility that was opened in 1989 by Neil Kinnock. The facility is 5 minutes from the Barnsley Interchange and close to Junction 37 off the M1. It is located along Queens Road, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, in England. It is regularly home to major worldwide ten-pin bowling events, such as the Weber Cup and World Tenpin Masters. Linda Jones (darts Player)
Linda Jones (December 14, 1944 – March 14, 1972) was an American soul singer with a strong gospel-influenced style who had the 1967 top 10 R&B hit single, "Hypnotized". Biography Jones was born in Newark, New Jersey, United States. She started singing in her family's gospel group, the Jones Singers at the age of six. Her first recording was "Lonely Teardrops" under the name of Linda Lane on Cub Records in 1963. She was found performing at a local club by songwriter Jerry Harris who introduced her to producer George Kerr. After unsuccessful singles on Atco Records in 1964 and Blue Cat Records the following year, Kerr took her to Warner Bros. Records' R&B subsidiary, Loma Records in 1967. Deta Hedman (born 14 November 1959) is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Biography Hedman was born in Jamaica in 1959. Her parents emigrated to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, leaving Hedman and her siblings in the care of relatives in Jamaica. She spent her childhood with her aunt in Castleton in a shack without running water or electricity, going to school from Monday to Thursday and working on the farm on Fridays. Her parents eventually settled in Witham, Essex and over time, brought their children to the UK, with Hedman joining them in January 1973.
