Pangs (band)
PANGS are an electropunk group formed in 2015 in Nashville. Background PANGS (formerly NUDITY) was begun as a recording project in early 2015 by members Lindsay and Nick Bennett and Will Reiss. Their first release in June 2015, "Already Dead" b/w a cover of Wreckless Eric's " Whole Wide World" earned praise in NME (25 July 2015) where they were named Buzz Band of the Week. Releasing subsequent singles and performing throughout 2015 and 2016 resulted in interviews and reviews by DIY and Impose Magazine. PANGS' song "RUBICON" appears in "The Friend Connection" episode of MTV series Awkward. In February 2017 PANGS provided the main theme song, "ARMS CTRL," for the E! network's tv series So Cosmo. In April 2017 PANGS guitarist and producer, Nick Bennett, began touring with Neil Diamond as guitarist for Diamond's 50th Anniversary World Tour. Wreckless Eric
Eric Goulden (born 18 May 1954), known as Wreckless Eric, is an English rock/ new wave singer-songwriter, best known for his 1977 single " Whole Wide World" on Stiff Records. More than two decades after its release, the song was included in ''Mojo'' magazine's list of the best punk rock singles of all time. It was also acclaimed as one of the "top 40 singles of the alternative era 1975–2000". Early life Wreckless Eric was born in Newhaven, East Sussex. He is a cousin of actress Gemma Arterton through her mother. In 1973, he began attending Art School in Hull, where he joined bands such as Dirty Henry that played local clubs. On a break after his first year at school he saw Kilburn and the High Roads in Oldham. Struck by their honest approach to music, Eric decided to employ the same to his composing and performing. Whole Wide World (song)
"Whole Wide World" is a song written by English rock singer-songwriter Wreckless Eric, who wrote the song in May 1974, and recorded it in 1977, whilst an original member of the Stiff Records label. Additional musicians on the record were Nick Lowe on guitar and bass, and Steve Goulding on drums. The song was never a chart hit single for Eric, though it subsequently became his best-known recording. The only charted versions of "Whole Wide World" are a cover by the Australian band Mental As Anything, who took it to No. 53 on the Australian singles chart in 1995, and another by American alternative rock band Cage the Elephant, who took it to No. 11 on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart in 2017.
