P. N. Krishnamurti
Sir Purniah Narasinga Rao Krishnamurti (12 August 1849 – 1911) was an Indian lawyer and administrator who served as the 16th Diwan of Mysore from 1901 to 1906. He was a direct descendant of Diwan Purnaiah, the first Dewan of Mysore. Early life and education Krishnamurti was born on 12 August 1849 in the Mysore kingdom and was educated at Bangalore. He graduated in law from the University of Madras and joined Mysore Civil Service as Assistant Superintendent in 1870 during Mysore Commission. After the restoration of the throne to the Wadiyar dynasty, Krishnamurti served as a judge of the Chief Court before being appointed Diwan in 1901. On 3 August 1905, whilst he was Dewan, electric lighting was introduced in Bangalore, becoming the first city in India to get electric street lighting. The Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire is an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria on 1 January 1878. The Order includes members of three classes: #Knight Grand Commander (GCIE) #Knight Commander ( KCIE) #Companion ( CIE) No appointments have been made since 1947, the year that British India gained independence as the Union of India and Dominion of Pakistan. A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a head of state (including the Pope) or representative for service to the monarch, the church or the country, especially in a military capacity. Knighthood finds origins in the Greek ''hippeis'' and '' hoplite'' (ἱππεῖς) and Roman '' eques'' and ''centurion'' of classical antiquity. Yelandur Estate
Estate of Yelandur or Yelandur Jagir was an estate in the erstwhile State of Mysore of Madras Presidency. At present it is located in the Chamarajanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka..The town of Yelandur was the administrative headquarters. History On 27 November 1807 Yelandur was given in jagir by the British East India company to Dewan Purnaiah in recognition of his services as Dewan of Mysore Kingdom at a special Durbar 1807. Diwan Of Mysore
The diwan of Mysore, also spelled dewan of Mysore, synonymously the prime minister of Mysore, was the ''de-facto'' chief executive officer of the government of the Kingdom of Mysore and the prime minister and royal adviser to the Maharaja of Mysore. The role evolved in name and responsibilities since the foundation of the fiefdom of Mysore in 1350 and its proper reformation into a kingdom in the following centuries until the kingdom's full abolishment in 1950.
