P. Ramachandran
P. Ramachandran (11 July 1921 – 23 May 2001) was an Indian politician and Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), Member of the Legislative Assembly. In parliament he represented Tamil Nadu. He was also Governor of Kerala (1982–1988). In the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, assembly he was elected from Peranamallur (State Assembly Constituency), Peranamallur constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate in 1962 Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 1962. He was later elected to Lok Sabha from Chennai Central (Lok Sabha constituency), Chennai Central constituency as a Janata Party candidate in Indian general election in Tamil Nadu, 1977, 1977. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Ramachandran served as a President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. Jothi Venkatachalam (born 27 October 1917, date of death unknown) was an Indian politician who served as List of Governors of Kerala, Governor of Kerala and Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu. Life and career Jothi Venkatachalam was born in Pyin Oo Lwin, Maymyo, hill city of British Burma (now Myanmar), on 27 October 1917 to G. Kuppuram and MeenaPai. Her father was appointed to serve in Secretary office of British Burma, resigned and came back to Chennai in 1930 due to political turmoil during that time in Burma. The Janata Party ( JP, lit. ''People's Party'') was a political party that was founded as an amalgam of Indian political parties opposed to the Emergency that was imposed between 1975 and 1977 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of the Indian National Congress. In the 1977 general election, the party defeated the Congress and Janata leader Morarji Desai became the first non-Congress prime minister in independent modern India's history. Raj Narain, a socialist leader, had filed a legal writ alleging electoral malpractice against Indira Gandhi in 1971. On 12 June 1975, Allahabad High Court found her guilty of using corrupt electoral practices in her 1971 election victory over Narain in the Rae Bareli constituency. She was barred from contesting any election for the next six years.
