P. Kamalanathan
Datuk Kamalanathan s/o Panchanathan ( ta, பி.கமலநாதன், Pi.Kamalanātaṉ; born 18 October 1965) is a Malaysian politician. He is a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He was the former Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the seat of Hulu Selangor and former Deputy Minister of Education I. Political life P. Kamalanathan was elected to Parliament in a 2010 Hulu Selangor by-election after the death of the incumbent member Zainal Abidin Ahmad. The by-election saw the seat shift from Zainal's opposition People's Justice Party (PKR) to the Barisan Nasional. The MIC had sought to field veteran politician and defeated former Hulu Selangor Member of Parliament G. Palanivel, but Barisan Nasional's leaders wanted a lesser-known winnable candidate. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. There are numerous reasons why someone may stand for office as an independent. 2004 Malaysian General Election
A general election was held on Sunday, 21 March 2004 for members of the 11th Parliament of Malaysia. Voting took place in all 219 parliamentary constituencies of Malaysia, each electing one Member of Parliament to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. This is first election for Abdullah as Prime Minister since appointed for this position in 2003. 2018 Malaysian General Election
The 2018 Malaysian General Election, formally known as the 14th Malaysian General Election (), was held on Wednesday, 9 May 2018, for members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia. The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845. It was relaunched as the ''New Straits Times'' on 13 August 1974. The paper served as Malaysia's only broadsheet format English-language newspaper.
