Patrick Joseph Murrihy is an Irish singer-songwriter from Mullagh, County Clare, Ireland. When not working on his own farm in Clare (where he breeds Wagyu cattle) he tours Ireland with his own band.Farmer's Journal As a youngster Murrihy learned songs from singers in his family, including his mother and two of his uncles. Mullagh, County Clare
Mullagh () is a village in County Clare, Ireland. It lies not far from the Atlantic coast, some 5 km southeast of Quilty and 6.5 km south-southeast of Spanish Point. Nearby towns include Milltown Malbay (7 km to the north) and Kilrush (22 km to the south). Parish The village of Mullagh is the centre of the parish of Kilmurry Ibrickane in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. The local church is named St. Mary's. Demographics The village had a population of 229 in the 2006 Census. Amenities Mullagh National School, located at the top of Mullagh hill, has undergone much enlargement and many changes over the years, its latest extension having been officially opened on 23 June 2008. Wagyu ( ja, 和牛, Hepburn: ''wagyū'', ) is the collective name for the four principal Japanese breeds of beef cattle. All wagyū cattle derive from cross-breeding in the early twentieth century of native Japanese cattle with imported stock, mostly from Europe. Kilfenora Céilí Band
The Kilfenora Céilí Band () is one of the oldest céilí bands in Ireland. It was founded in 1909 in Kilfenora, a village in County Clare. History The first group of céilí musicians played in the old schoolhouse in Kilfenora in 1909. A new Catholic priest invited local fiddler Michael Slattery to form a band to play at fundraising dances to help clear parish debts and refurbish the church. It was also an opportunity for musicians to play at local houses or cross road dances. The members of the band changed over the years. Early players included fiddler John Joe Lynch and his sister Brigid McGrath on concertina, Jim Mulqueeney and Austin Tierney on fiddle, and Jim McCormack on flute. For bigger events, local musicians such as Jimmy Leyden (drums) and Pat Madigan (bass) and McCormack augmented the band. Milltown Malbay (), also Miltown Malbay, is a town in the west of County Clare, Ireland, near Spanish Point. The population was 829 at the 2016 Census. Name There is a townland on the southern edge of the town called Poulawillin or Pollawillin (). There is evidence that this name was once applied to the town – for example, in the ''Parish Namebook'' of the ''Ordnance Survey'' (1839) there is a reference to "Baile an Mhuillinn anciently Poll a’ Mhuillinn, Milltown Malbay".
