P.J. Johns
Philip Joseph Johns (born June 7, 1958, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper. Johns spent four seasons in the North American Soccer League, eight in the Major Indoor Soccer League, two in the National Professional Soccer League and one in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. He was also a member of the United States national futsal team which placed second at the 1992 FIFA Futsal World Championship. Johns grew up in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School where he played soccer and was a drummer on the high school band. Johns attended the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He tried out for the Panthers soccer team his sophomore season and played on the team from 1977 to 1979. Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
Oconomowoc ( ) is a city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The name was derived from Coo-no-mo-wauk, the Potawatomi term for "waterfall." The population was 15,712 at the 2010 census. The city is partially adjacent to the Town of Oconomowoc and near the village of Oconomowoc Lake, Wisconsin. History Before 1700, this region was inhabited by Potawatomi peoples descended from Woodland Indians known as "mound builders". Futsal Goalkeepers
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiply that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification is used by the NHL since 1965 and the IIHF since 1990. When calculating GAA, overtime goals and time on ice are included, whereas empty net and shootout goals are not.
