Ozalj Hydroelectric Power Plant
Ozalj Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectric power plant on river Kupa, in its central stretch, in town of Ozalj, Karlovac County, Croatia. The Ozalj Hydroelectric Power Plant is run-of-the-river plant on the Kupa River central stretch. The Ozalj plant consist of two separate hydroelectric power plants, Ozalj 1 (located on the right bank of the Kupa River) and Ozalj 2 (located on the left bank of the Kupa River). Ozalj 1 was built in 1908 as the first larger power plant in the continental part of Croatia, and the power was used for street lighting in the city of Karlovac. It is operated by Hrvatska elektroprivreda. Hydroelectric
Hydroelectricity, or hydroelectric power, is electricity generated from hydropower (water power). Hydropower supplies one sixth of the world's electricity, almost 4500 TWh in 2020, which is more than all other renewable sources combined and also more than nuclear power. Hydropower can provide large amounts of low-carbon electricity on demand, making it a key element for creating secure and clean electricity supply systems. A hydroelectric power station that has a dam and reservoir is a flexible source, since the amount of electricity produced can be increased or decreased in seconds or minutes in response to varying electricity demand. Once a hydroelectric complex is constructed, it produces no direct waste, and almost always emits considerably less greenhouse gas than fossil fuel-powered energy plants.

Power Plant
A power station, also referred to as a power plant and sometimes generating station or generating plant, is an industrial facility for the generation of electric power. Power stations are generally connected to an electrical grid. Many power stations contain one or more generators, a rotating machine that converts mechanical power into three-phase electric power. The relative motion between a magnetic field and a conductor creates an electric current. The energy source harnessed to turn the generator varies widely. Most power stations in the world burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas to generate electricity. Low-carbon power sources include nuclear power, and an increasing use of renewables such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric. History In early 1871 Belgian inventor Zénobe Gramme invented a generator powerful enough to produce power on a commercial scale for industry. In 1878, a hydroelectric power station was designed and built by Wil ...

Kupa River
The Kupa () or Kolpa ( or ; from la, Colapis in Roman times; hu, Kulpa) river, a right tributary of the Sava, forms a natural border between north-west Croatia and southeast Slovenia. It is long, with its border part having a length of and the rest located in Croatia. Name The name ''Colapis'', recorded in antiquity, is presumed to come from the Proto-Indo-European roots ''*quel-'' 'turn, meander' and ''*ap-'' 'water', meaning 'meandering water'. An alternative interpretation is ''*(s)kel-''/''*skul-'' 'shiny, bright', meaning 'clear river'. Course The Kupa originates in Croatia in the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar, northeast of Rijeka, in the area of Risnjak National Park. It flows a few kilometers eastwards, receives the small Čabranka River from the left, before reaching the Slovenian border. It then continues eastwards between the White Carniola region in the north and Central Croatia in the south. The Kupa receives influx from the river Lahinja from the left ...

The patron saint of the town is St. Vitus, whose feast is celebrated on 15 June. Munjara Munjara is the old hydroelectric plant. This plant has three 3.5 megawatt generators and was built between 1907 and 1908. Population The town of Ozalj itself has a population of 1,181, with a total of 6,817 people in the munici ...

Gojak Hydroelectric Power Plant
Gojak Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectric power plant on river Dobra, near the town of Ogulin, in Karlovac County, Croatia. Its total capacity is 55.5 MW. The Gojak Hydroelectric Power Plant is a high pressure diversion plant which harnesses the river power of the Ogulinska Dobra and Zagorska Mrežnica rivers. It is operated by the Croatian state-owned electrical company, Hrvatska elektroprivreda. Another lake is formed by the river Dobra just before it plunges into Đula's abyss. Namely, somewhere around one kilometer away from the center of Ogulin, a dam was built on the river Dobra, and in this way another artificial lake, Bukovnik, was created. From that lake, water is drained through channels up to 30 kilometers long to the Gojak Hydroelectric Power Station, where we use it to obtain electricity.
