Oyama, Tochigi
is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. , the city had an estimated population of 167,647 in 70,928 households, and a population density of 980 persons per km². The total area of the city is . In 2006, Oyama became the second most populous city in Tochigi Prefecture, with the capital Utsunomiya retaining the number one spot. Mas Oyama
, more commonly known as Mas Oyama, was a karate master who founded Kyokushin Karate, considered the first and most influential style of full contact karate. A Zainichi Korean, he spent most of his life living in Japan and acquired Japanese citizenship in 1968. Early life Mas Oyama was born as Choi Yeong-Eui () in Kintei, Chōsen. At a young age he was sent to Manchukuo to live on his sister's farm. Oyama began studying Chinese martial arts at age 9 from a Chinese farmer who was working on the farm. His family name was Lee and Oyama said he was his very first teacher. The story of the young Oyama's life is written in his earlier books. His family was of the landed-gentry class, and his father, Choi Seung Hyun, writing under the pen name of "Hakheon," was a noted composer of classical Chinese poetry. , is a dormant stratovolcano in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. It has an elevation of 1,729 metres. Yasuharu Ōyama (大山 康晴 Ōyama Yasuharu, March 13, 1923 - July 26, 1992) was a professional shogi player, 15th Lifetime Meijin and president of Japan Shogi Association (1976 - 1989). Daihi Susumu (born 16 October 1952 as Susumu Ogura) is a former sumo wrestler from Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Career He made his professional debut in March 1968, and reached the top division in January 1977. His highest rank was ''maegashira'' 2. For much of his active career he was known under the ''shikona'' of Onobori, before switching to Daihi in 1978.
