Owl Club (Harvard)
The Owl Club is an all-male final club at Harvard University founded in 1896. History The Owl Club was founded in 1896 by Reginald Mansfield Johnson, Malcolm Scollay Greenough, Jr., Frazier Curtis, Preston Player, Charles Clifford Payson, Austen Fox Riggs, and Dudley Hall Bradlee, Jr. Originally established as a secret society, the Club held its meetings in Cambridge's Polo Club Alley before purchasing land on the corner of Holyoke Street and Holyoke Place in 1901. In 1905, architect James Purdon of Purdon & Little drew up plans for the Georgian clubhouse, and on June 24 of that year the cornerstone of the present clubhouse was laid. The new building was formally opened on March 24, 1906, the tenth anniversary of the Club. In 1916, it was voted to officially change the name from “Phi Delta Psi Club” to “Owl Club”. United States Assistant Secretary Of War
The United States Assistant Secretary of War was the second–ranking official within the American Department of War from 1861 to 1867, from 1882 to 1883, and from 1890 to 1940. According to thMilitary Laws of the United States "The act of August 5, 1882 authorizing the appointment of an Assistant Secretary of War was repealed by the act of July 7, 1884 (23 Stat L., 331) the power conferred by the act of August 5, 1882 never having been exercised," indicating that the post was not filled between 1882 and 1883 (p. 45, footnote 2). In 1940, the new position of United States Under Secretary of War replaced this position as the number-two office in the department. Assistant Secretary Robert P. Patterson became the first Under Secretary. The office continued to exercise administrative duties until the department's end in 1947, when the United States Department of Defense was established. Rupert Hitzig (born August 15, 1938) is an American Film director, director, Film producer, producer, actor and screenwriter. He graduated from Harvard University. Career With executive producer Berry Gordy he produced ''The Last Dragon'' (1985), directed by Michael Schultz and written by Louis Venosta. With Robert Boris he wrote the screenplay for ''Electra Glide in Blue'' (1973), directed by James William Guercio and starring Robert Blake (actor), Robert Blake, Billy Green Bush and Mitchell Ryan. With Alan Landsburg he produced ''Jaws 3-D'' (1983), directed by Joe Alves and James Contner as director of photography. He was looking to direct his first film for under a million of dollars. William Gurdon Saltonstall (November 11, 1905 – December 18, 1989) was an American educator and writer, and the ninth principal of Phillips Exeter Academy. Early life Saltonstall was born in Milton, Massachusetts to the wealthy Saltonstall family. He was a son of Robert Saltonstall and Caroline James ( Stevenson) Saltonstall. Among his siblings was Harriet Saltonstall Gratwick, a co-founder of the Rochester Zen Center. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States.
