Owen Klassen
Owen James Klassen (born October 31, 1991) is a Canadian professional basketball player for EWE Baskets Oldenburg of the Basketball Bundesliga. He played university basketball at Acadia University and is a current member of the Canadian national basketball team. Professional career In September 2014, Owen started his professional career overseas at Macedonian Adriatic League team MZT Skopje, at the time coached by Zmago Sagadin. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement in March 2015, after a prognosis that a full recovery from an already lengthy back injury of his would last longer than previously expected. On July 31, 2015, Klassen signed with Phoenix Hagen. On December 1, 2015, Owen was named German BBL Round 10 Player of the Week following an impressive 17 point, 10 rebound performance in a win over EWE Baskets Oldenburg. The Prva A liga, for sponsorships reasons named the Erste Liga, is the top-tier professional basketball league in Montenegro. It is the highest basketball division organized by the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG). Zmago Sagadin (; born 1 November 1952 in Celje) is widely considered as the most successful Slovenian and top European basketball coach with 25 championship titles both on a national and international level, recognized 9 times as Slovenian Top Coach of the Year and recipient of many other honorary awards. Zmago is known for his outstanding work with young players, which resulted in 11 of his players to move on to compete in NBA – developing more NBA players than any other coach in Europe – and helped numerous others to achieve the highest European level. The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia).
