The Mentors
The Mentors are an American heavy metal band, known for their deliberate shock rock lyrics. Originally formed in Seattle, Washington in May 1976, they relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1979. The band garnered attention both from noted hard rock acts and pro-censorship movements such as the Parents Music Resource Center, but the death of drummer and lead singer Eldon Hoke ("El Duce") in 1997 brought them unprecedented attention. The band remains active today with a different line-up: Sickie Wifebeater (Eric Carlson (musician), Eric Carlson) on lead guitar, Dr Heathen Scum (Steve Broy) on bass guitar, Cousin Fister (Bryan) on rhythm guitar, and John Christopher on drums. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Jack Endino
Jack Endino (born Michael M. Giacondino; 1964) is an American producer and musician based in Seattle, Washington. Long associated with Seattle label Sub Pop and the grunge movement, Endino worked on seminal albums from bands including Mudhoney, Soundgarden and Nirvana. He was also the guitarist for Seattle band Skin Yard, which was active between 1985 and 1992. Endino currently manages a studio in Seattle called Soundhouse Recording. Early career In 1985, Endino and Daniel House started the influential grunge band Skin Yard. Though originally a drummer, Endino played guitar and Matt Cameron played drums until he left for Soundgarden. In 1986, Skin Yard contributed two songs to C/Z Records' legendary grunge compilation '' Deep Six''. Houses Of The Horny
''Houses of the Horny'' is a studio album by the Mentors released in 1994, containing demo versions of tracks from what would have been their next album. The album was the last Mentors release in El Duce's lifetime, and was sold at Mentors concerts and via mailorder. It was only available on cassette. The title parodies the Led Zeppelin album ''Houses of the Holy''. In 1997, when German record label Maximum Metal reissued '' You Axed for It!'' and '' Up the Dose'', tracks from this album were added as bonuses. ''You Axed for It!'' included "Wine Her, Dine Her and 69 Her", "In and Out of You", "Leave Some for the Vultures" from '' To the Max'' and an unreleased track called "Sex Education", which had been recorded in the ''Houses of the Horny'' sessions. ''Up the Dose'' included "Kings of Sleaze", "Service Me or Be Smacked", "All Women are Insane" from ''To the Max'' and "Split the Square", although "Service Me or Be Smacked" is a different recording. Mentorship is the influence, guidance, or direction given by a mentor. A mentor is someone who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced and often younger person.
