Over The Rainbow (1979 TV Series)
''Over the Rainbow'' is a Hong Kong modern drama series produced by TVB which premiered on 29 January 1979. The series stars Patrick Tse, Adam Cheng, Liza Wang, Carol Cheng, Alan Tam and Lau Dan, while the theme song, titled ''Rainbow'' (天虹), was composed and arranged by Joseph Koo, with lyrics provided by James Wong, and was sung by Liza Wang. Plot Yu Suk-foon (Leung San) was widowed at a young age and gave birth to a daughter, Yam Oi-wah (Carol Cheng). After the death of her husband, Suk-foon concentrated on developing a fashion company and became a leading figure in the fashion industry. When Oi-wah was ten years old, Suk-foon remarried to police superintendent Hong Sai-hung (Lau Dan), which discontents her father and daughter. When Oi-wah returns to Hong Kong after studying fashion design in the United Kingdom, she is determined to compete with her mother in the fashion industry, only to experience a taste of defeat in the end. Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR. The Company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. Kong Ngai
Kong Ngai (born Tang Siu Ji; October 1936 – 13 March 2013) was a Hong Kong actor with TVB and ATV. Early years Born in China in 1936 as Tang Siu Ji, Kong's affluent family fled to Macau during World War II and later migrated to Hong Kong. Before acting he was a stockbroker and a Cantonese opera singer. Acting career Kong was hired by TVB in 1974 and stayed with the station until 1996. He moved onto rival ATV in 1997 and remained there until 2008. Kong was known to play mainly father figures in his television career. Kong starred in one last TV series with RTHK in 2009. Stanley Fung Shui-fan (born June 1, 1945) is a Hong Kong actor and film director known for playing comedic roles. He was one of the Lucky Stars. Career In 1967, Fung became an actor in Hong Kong films. Fung first appeared in To Rose with Love, a 1967 Action film directed by Chor Yuen. In 1974, Fung became a director and writer. Fung's directorial debut was with ''The Looks of Hong Kong'', a 1974 Mandarin Drama film. Kwan Hoi-san
Herman Kwan Hoi-San () (born Kwan Ming-kok; October 23, 1925 – September 11, 2006) was a Hong Kong actor. His English name was Herman Kwan. Kwan started off as a Cantonese opera actor in street theatre before joining New Voice Opera Troupe (新聲劇團). He also started singing for early Hong Kong film soundtracks and moved on to act in films, mostly adaption of opera in Cantonese. He became famous and acted in many lead roles. When Hong Kong films started to move towards Mandarin, Kwan's career faltered and joined TVB and acted in various roles. Directors and filmmakers rediscovered his talent and cast him in many supporting roles in films. In 2001, Kwan suffered a stroke and was left mute and paralysed. He died in 2006. Independent Commission Against Corruption (Hong Kong)
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong was established by Governor Sir Murray MacLehose on 15 February 1974, when Hong Kong was under British rule. Its main aim was to clean up endemic corruption in the many departments of the Hong Kong Government through law enforcement, prevention and community education. The ICAC is independent of the Hong Kong Civil Service and politically-appointed Principal Officials. The Basic Law of Hong Kong stipulates that the ICAC shall function independently and be directly accountable to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong.
