"Over My Head (Better Off Dead)" is a song by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released in June 2003 as the third and final single from their 2002 album ''Does This Look Infected?''. An acoustic version of the song can be found on the Chuck Acoustic EP. Background and writing Sum 41's lead vocalist Deryck Whibley spoke about the song's meaning, saying, "It's not about being fucked up or drunk," Whibley said. "It's more about the aftermath when you're hearing everything you've just done the night before, and you're like, "Ah, fuck, I'm better off dead." I don't regret any of the things I do and I don't mind doing them, I just hate hearing about it. Being told every morning, "Dude, what did you do last night?" drives me nuts." Sum 41 is a Canadian rock band from Ajax, Ontario. Originally called Kaspir, the band was formed in 1996 and currently consists of Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Dave Baksh (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jason "Cone" McCaslin (bass, backing vocals), Tom Thacker (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals), and Frank Zummo (drums, percussion, occasional backing vocals). Bush and anti-Iraq War song. Music video The video, directed by Marc Klasfeld, starts with the band members entering the office of a record executive (played by Will Sasso). He says the "number band thing" is "out" and changes the band's name to "The Sums" and the members' individual names (Deryck is "Sven", Cone is "Thurston", Dave is "Holmes", and Stevo is "Sergio"). ''Chuck'' is the third studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. The album was released on October 12, 2004. It is the band's last album to feature guitarist Dave Baksh as he left Sum 41 on May 11, 2006, to pursue his career with his own band Brown Brigade. This is the final album to feature the full classic lineup (Baksh, Deryck Whibley, Cone McCaslin and Steve Jocz). Baksh returned in 2015, but Frank Zummo replaced Jocz that same year. ''Chuck'' peaked at No. 2 on the Canadian Albums Chart and No. 10 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, making it the band's highest-charting album until it would be surpassed by '' Underclass Hero'' in 2007. ''Does This Look Infected?'' is the second studio album by Canadian rock band Sum 41. It was released on November 26, 2002. It is their only album to feature a Parental Advisory label on the cover, despite the fact that other albums by the band also feature profanity. It was released in both explicit and edited versions. Music, lyrics and composition The album is a lot more aggressive, darker and heavier than Sum 41's previous studio album, ''All Killer No Filler''. It also has fewer elements of pop music than ''All Killer No Filler''. Described as heavy metal, horror punk, punk rock, pop punk, and melodic hardcore, the album uses elements of heavy metal, hardcore punk, thrash metal, d-beat and, on the song "Thanks for Nothing", hip hop.
