''Outpost Transmission'' is a 2002 studio album by the British electronic music group 808 State. It is their sixth studio album, and their first new material since 1996's ''Thermo Kings''. Guests on this album were: Simon Lord ( Simian) on "606", Guy Garvey (Elbow) on "Lemonsoul", and Alabama 3 on "Crossword". 808 State
808 State are an English electronic music group formed in 1987 in Manchester, taking their name from the Roland TR-808 drum machine. They were formed by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson. They released their debut album, '' Newbuild'', in September 1988 and secured commercial success in 1989, when their song " Pacific State" was picked up by BBC Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies and charted for 11 weeks in the UK. The group's early work was a prominent influence on the UK's burgeoning acid house scene. AllMusic called them "one of the most important dance music acts of all time," and noted their influence on subsequent techno, IDM, and alternative dance artists. Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey (lead vocals, guitar), Craig Potter (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Turner (bass guitar, backing vocals). Guy Garvey
Guy Edward John Garvey (born 6 March 1974) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter. He is the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band Elbow. Early life Garvey grew up in Bury, Lancashire. His father was a grammar school boy who could not afford to go to university; he spent most of his working life as a newspaper proofreader and a chemist at ICI. His mother was a police officer who went back to university and became a psychologist. One of seven siblings, Garvey has five older sisters: Gina, Louise, Sam, Karen, and Becky. Simon Locke Lord (first name sometimes Simeon; March 8, 1826 – February 17, 1893) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate. Biography Lord was born in Limington, Maine, in 1826. After graduating from the Jefferson Medical College, Lord moved to Edgerton, Wisconsin, in 1858. During the American Civil War, Lord served with the 13th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment and the 32nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He served as postmaster of Edgerton.
