Out To Win (TV Series)
''Out to Win'' (步步为赢) is a television serial set in modern-day Singapore. Produced by MediaCorp TV Channel 8, it starred Fann Wong in drama about a self-centred futures trader who gradually alienates her friends and family by doing whatever it takes to rise up the corporate ladder. It is only through a car crash that she learns to empathise with the victim and learns the meaning of life. This serial won Fann Wong a Best Actress nomination at Singapore's Star Awards 1999 and the viewership rating for this serial exceeded 30% during the last episode. Channel 8 (Singaporean TV Channel)
Channel 8 ( zh, 8頻道) is a Singaporean free-to-air television channel, airing in Mandarin Chinese. It was created by Television Singapura on 31 August 1963 with experimental broadcasts, before going official on 23 November that year. The channel's logo is a yellow number 8 on top of a red disc. History Channel 8 began its test transmissions on Saturday, 31 August 1963, Malaysia's national day. Its first day consisted of a Hokkien film, repeats of India's participation in the South East Asian Cultural Festival and Singapore Celebrates. A second test transmission took place between 16 and 20 September of that year and devoted much of its time to the week-long celebrations, to coincide with the historic Proclamation of Malaysia, and the political campaigns leading up to the 1963 General Election. Star Awards 1999
The Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit in the media organisation Mediacorp of Singapore where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year. The awards are given annually in a ceremony. The various category winners are awarded a trophy, with initial designs featuring various star shapes. The star was subsequently removed and the trophy is designed as a S shaped column, depicting the star. History The 1st Star Awards presentation was held on 26 February 1994, took place at the Caldecott Broadcast Centre, MediaCorp TV Theatre with an audience of about 500 people. There have no other pre-show and post-awards ceremony held in that year. Ix Shen
Ix Shen (, formerly ; born 11 March 1972), also known as Shen Qing, is a Singaporean former television actor, now working in film production. Career Shen began his acting career in TCS (now Mediacorp) in 1995 after emerging the male winner of ''Star Search'', a televised talent search competition. In 2000, he joined SPH MediaWorks not long after the latter was established. In late 2004 SPH MediaWorks was merged into MediaCorp and Shen was one of the 20 artistes who were transferred back to MediaCorp.
