Goldenhorse
Goldenhorse are a pop band from New Zealand. Release Goldenhorse's debut album ''Riverhead'' was released in October 2002, to a small fanfare. But over the next 18 months various singles from the album started to be played on the radio. The band played live throughout New Zealand continuously and sales of the record climbed slowly then steadily and in August 2004 the album reached no.1 on the national charts. In 2010, Goldenhorse founding member Ben King debuted his new musical project Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids released their debut album Faintheartedness in April 2011. It was released as an exclusive limited edition vinyl through MusicHype. In February 2012, the band provided the theme song for TV2's commercial which was a re-recorded version of "I'm Free", originally written by The Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. Siren Records
Siren Records was an independent music label based in Auckland, New Zealand formed in 2000. Goldenhorse Riverhead took the record for longest climb in the album charts to the #1 position of just under 2 years, finally reaching triple platinum status with the single Maybe Tomorrow succeeding as a top 10 hit and was crowned 2003's Most Played Song On Radio at the NZ Music Awards. Their next album ''Out of the Moon'' achieved similar success climbing quickly to double platinum. Their final album Reporter released 2008 quickly made Gold status before the band broke up in 2009. ''Riverhead'' is the debut studio album of New Zealand band Goldenhorse, released in October 2002. Three versions were released of this album; the original in 2002, a limited edition 2-CD version in 2003, Retrieved 15 December 2022 froDiscogs and a new edition released in 2004. The 2004 version was released to celebrate a year on the album chart and achieving double platinum sales. Riverhead reached #1 on New Zealand's RIANZ charts and has sold over 49,000 copies, being certified Platinum three times. Background and development ''Riverhead'' was largely recorded at a home studio in the rural settlement of Waiatarua, located in the Waitākere Ranges. Band member and producer Geoff Maddock noted in 2012 that the unique recording location and its tendency to be "enveloped in mist" notably influenced the album's sound.
