''Out All Night'' is a 1933 American pre-Code comedy film directed by Sam Taylor and written by William Anthony McGuire. Sam Taylor (director)
Sam Taylor (August 13, 1895 – March 6, 1958) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer, most active in the silent film era. Taylor is best known for his comedic directorial work with Harold Lloyd and Mary Pickford, and also later worked with Laurel and Hardy. He was born in New York City. A notorious cinematic legend over the decades has suggested that Taylor's 1929 adaptation of Shakespeare's ''The Taming of the Shrew'' had the screen credit "additional dialogue by Sam Taylor". However, no extant prints of the film contain this credit, and there is no documentary evidence that it ever existed. Taylor directed seven feature films with Lloyd as star, second only to Fred C. Newmeyer (the two co-directed Lloyd in five features). He also directed Pickford in her first "talkie" feature with ''Coquette'' (1929), which garnered the latter an Academy Award. Billy Barty (born William John Bertanzetti, October 25, 1924 – December 23, 2000) was an American actor and activist. In adult life, he stood tall, due to cartilage–hair hypoplasia dwarfism. Because of his short stature, he was often cast in films opposite taller performers for comic effect. He specialized in outspoken or wisecracking characters. During the 1950s, he became a television actor, appearing regularly in the Spike Jones ensemble. In the early 1970s he was a staple in a variety of roles in children's TV programs produced by Sid and Marty Krofft. Also an activist for people with dwarfism, he founded the Little People of America organization in 1957. Alexander Carr (1878–1946) was a Russian born stage and screen actor, writer, vaudevillian, burlesque and circus performer. Biography He made his first stage appearance on stage at a music hall in St. Paul, Minnesota. He appeared later in theatres in Louisville, Nashville and Buffalo. In Chicago he appeared at the Trocadero theatre. His first New York appearance was at the Circle Theatre in 1904 at the Circle Theatre in "Wine, Women and Song" imitating David Warfield. He established an on stage partnership with friend Barney Bernard. Beginning in 1913 the two appeared in the long running ethnic Jewish play ''Potash and Perlmutter (play), Potatsh and Perlmutter'', one of the most successful plays of the early twentieth century Broadway.
