Our Lady Of Wisdom Catholic School
Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic School is a Canadian elementary school in the Orleans area of Ottawa, Ontario. School history The school officially opened its doors on September 4, 1972 and was the first English Roman Catholic School in Orleans. The school’s first principal was Gerard Leclair. During its first year of operation, it was known as Queenswood Catholic School and was housed in portables on the property of Reine-des-Bois French Catholic School on Duford Road at Amiens Street. At the time, both schools were part of the Carleton Roman Catholic School Board which had been formed in 1969. In September 1973, construction of a permanent school building costing $640,000 and situated at 1565 St. Georges Street in Queenswood Heights was completed and the school adopted the Our Lady of Wisdom name. Convent Glen Catholic School (CGCS) is an Roman Catholic elementary school in Orleans, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. CGCS is one of 64 elementary schools under the Ottawa Catholic School Board. The school provides junior kindergarten to grade six, as well as French immersion and full day kindergarten. The principal is Tracey Jemmeson. History CGCS opened in 1976 as a port-a-pak complex with five classrooms, one bathroom and a combined staff and storage room. When student enrolment increased, a second port-a-pak unit was added. The CGCS students were bused to the Our Lady of Wisdom School for gym class and library time. Suzanne Pinel
Suzanne Pinel, is a Canadian children's entertainer and former citizenship judge. Using the stage name Marie-Soleil, Pinel performed for twenty years, using stories and songs to teach the French language to kids. She recorded albums, releasing her first disc in 1976, and starred in the television series ''Marie-Soleil''. In 1991, Pinel was made a Member of the Order of Canada for being "one of the great ambassadors of French-Canadian culture, this Franco-Ontarian teacher has helped promote bilingualism among both the younger and older members of the two language groups". In 2012, she was made a member of the Order of Ontario. Before embarking on her career as a children's entertainer, Pinel studied nursing at the University of Ottawa. Brian Coburn (politician)
Brian Coburn (born ) is former politician in Ontario, Canada. He sat in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2003, representing the riding of Carleton—Gloucester (renamed as Ottawa—Orléans) for the Progressive Conservative Party. Coburn was a cabinet minister in the government of Mike Harris and Ernie Eves. He is not to be confused with the person of the same name who represents the same area on the Ottawa-Carleton Catholic School Board. John Diefenbaker
John George Diefenbaker ( ; September 18, 1895 – August 16, 1979) was the 13th prime minister of Canada, serving from 1957 to 1963. He was the only Progressive Conservative party leader between 1930 and 1979 to lead the party to an election victory, doing so three times, although only once with a majority of the seats in the House of Commons. Diefenbaker was born in southwestern Ontario in the small town of Neustadt in 1895. In 1903, his family migrated west to the portion of the North-West Territories which would soon become the province of Saskatchewan.
