Our Lady of Mercy College (previously known as Bunbury Catholic College Mercy Campus and commonly called OLMC, or simply Mercy) is a Catholic secondary school located in Australind, in the South West region of Western Australia. The College was originally formed in 2015 when Bunbury Catholic College built it as a second campus. The campus name is derived from the Sisters of Mercy, who co-founded Bunbury Catholic College. The College officially became independent on 1 January 2020. History Early history and origins The Sisters of Mercy opened St Joseph's School in 1883. The Marist Brothers founded St Francis Xavier's College as a boys' school for the Bunbury region in 1954. By the end of 1972, the enrolment had risen from 84 to 290. In 1955, Sacred Heart High School (opened 1899) merged with St Joseph's. The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) is the credential awarded to students who have completed senior secondary education (Year 11 and Year 12) in the state of Western Australia. It is the Western Australian graduation certificate of the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education. Marcellin Joseph Benedict Champagnat (20 May 17896 June 1840), also known as Saint Marcellin Champagnat, was born in Le Rosey, village of Marlhes, near St. Etienne (Loire), France. He was the founder of the Marist Brothers, a religious congregation of brothers in the Catholic Church devoted to Mary and dedicated to education. His feast day is 6 June, his death anniversary.
