Our Country Cousin
''Our Country Cousins'' is a 1914 American short comedy film. Directed by Mack Sennett, it starred Fatty Arbuckle. Plot The farmer has two sons. His niece visits the farm and the two sons fall in love with her. She and one of the sons elope. The priest declines to marry them, and the Keystone Cops chase after the couple. The couple tumble off a cliff and the police officers try numerous times to save her. Their attempts to save her lead to their falling off the cliff too. Mack Sennett
Mack Sennett (born Michael Sinnott; January 17, 1880 – November 5, 1960) was a Canadian-American film actor, director, and producer, and studio head, known as the 'King of Comedy'. Born in Danville, Quebec, in 1880, he started in films in the Biograph Company of New York City, and later opened Keystone Studios in Edendale, California in 1912. Keystone possessed the first fully enclosed film stage, and Sennett became famous as the originator of slapstick routines such as pie-throwing and car-chases, as seen in the Keystone Cops films. He also produced short features that displayed his Bathing Beauties, many of whom went on to develop successful acting careers. Sennett's work in sound movies was less successful, and he was bankrupted in 1933. In 1938 he was presented with an honorary Academy Award for his contribution to film comedy. The ''Moving Picture World'' was an influential early trade journal for the American film industry, from 1907 to 1927. An industry powerhouse at its height, ''Moving Picture World'' frequently reiterated its independence from the film studios. In 1911, the magazine bought out ''Views and Film Index''. Its reviews illustrate the standards and tastes of film in its infancy, and shed light on story content in those early days. By 1914, it had a reported circulation of approximately 15,000. He used the name William Goodrich on the films he directed from 1924 onward. Arbuckle's films share the common fate of silent movies. ''The Riverine Grazier'' is an English language newspaper published in Hay, New South Wales from 1873. The paper absorbed the ''Riverina Times, Hay Standard and Journal of Water Conservation'' in October 1902. History The first issue of ''The Riverine Grazier'' was on 29 October 1873. The paper was published every Wednesday and could be subscribed to for £1 per year. It contained agricultural information, news and advertisements for goods and services in the area. Its founder was John Andrew; it was purchased in 1888 by James Ashton M.L.C. (previously a compositor with the ''Hay Standard'' then a clerk with Cramsie, Bowden and Co.) and John Johnston O.B.E. (ca.1864 – 29 October 1939) who was previously an accountant with Cobb and Co. then branch manager for the Equitable Assurance Company, of New Zealand.
