Our Brave Boys
''Our Brave Boys'' is Christopher Lee's radio-comedy drama series about a high-flying civil servant who is posted to the Ministry of Defence, where she finds herself boss to four military personnel. The "boys" are nearing the end of their stint at the Ministry of Defence, and each of them is looking forward to returning to his particular service and, hopefully, to promotion. But with their departure imminent, both they and the redoubtable Zelda discover that their feelings are surprisingly ambivalent. Directed by Pete Atkin and produced by Rosalind Ayres. Christopher Lee (historian)
Christopher Lee RD (13 October 1941 – 14 February 2021) was a British writer, historian and broadcaster, best known for writing the radio documentary series '' This Sceptred Isle'' for the BBC read by Anna Massey and directed by Pete Atkin. Career Lee's career began after expulsion from school and going to sea in an old tramp steamer. In his twenties he restarted education, reading history at London University. He later joined the BBC as a defence and foreign affairs correspondent and was posted to Moscow and the Middle East. Leaving his career in journalism for academia, Lee was the first Quatercentenary Fellow in Contemporary History and Gomes Lecturer in Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He went on to research the history of ideas at Birkbeck College in the University of London. Pete Atkin
Pete Atkin (born 22 August 1945) is a British singer-songwriter and radio producer, notable for his 1970s musical collaborations with Clive James and for producing the BBC Radio 4 series, '' This Sceptred Isle''. Early life Born in Cambridge, England, Atkin attended Romsey County Primary School and The Perse School, where he learnt to play the violin. In 1959, he formed a church youth club band called 'The Chevrons' for whom he played piano with four schoolfriends. He studied Classics and English at Cambridge University, where he was a member of St John's College. In 1966 he joined Cambridge Footlights, becoming the musical director for the revues. Music career Atkin made his first recording in 1967: a private pressing of 160 copies of ''While The Music Lasts''. Rosalind Ayres
Rosalind Ayres (born 7 December 1946) is an English actress, director and producer. Active since 1970, Ayres is well known for her role in the 1997 film ''Titanic'', in which she played Lucy, Lady Duff-Gordon. Her husband, Martin Jarvis, played Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon in the film. Martin Jarvis OBE (born 4 August 1941) is an English actor and a producer of radio drama. Described by the BBC as "one of Britain's most distinguished and versatile actors", he has had a varied career in theatre, film and television, and is particularly noted for radio acting and voicing audiobooks. Early life Jarvis was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, to Denys Harry Jarvis and Margot Lillian Scottney, and grew up in South Norwood and Sanderstead. UK career Neame's UK film credits include appearances in two Hammer Horror films: ''Lust for a Vampire'' (1971) and ''Dracula AD 1972'' (1972), as well as '' No Blade of Grass'' (1970).
