Oulu International School
Oulu International School (OIS) is a public, not-for-profit, co-educational international school in the Myllytulli district in Oulu, Finland. The school was founded in 2001. It is one of nine English-speaking schools in Finland that offer basic education. The school is part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) network. It offers the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme in English, but the IB Diploma Programme is offered by Oulun Lyseon Lukio. Oulu International School has about 430 students, ages 7 to 16 years. Myllytulli
Myllytulli is a district of the city centre area of Oulu, Finland. Myllytulli was mostly industrial area, which was rezoned mostly for residential use in 1984. Some of the old industrial buildings were preserved and renovated as museums such as Oulu Museum of Art, Tietomaa science centre, fire damaged Myllytulli power plant is being renovated as an art gallery. A large part of the neighbourhood is used by the Hupisaaret Islands park in the Oulu River delta. The Northern Ostrobothnia museum is located in the park. Oulun Lyseon Lukio
Oulun Lyseon Lukio (Oulu Lyseo Upper Secondary School) is a Finnish upper secondary school in the city of Oulu in northern Finland. The school has over 60 teachers and about 750 students. In addition to the Finnish national curriculum the school provides the option to study the International Baccalaureate programme in English. Since 2018 Lyseo has a distance teaching campus in the small town of Tyrnävä. In 2018 255 students, of which 50 took the IB programme, were accepted to the school . History In the autumn of 1874, Oulun lyseo started as a private Lyceum and it adopted Finnish as the official academical language. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at 16-to-19-year-olds in 140 countries around the world. The programme provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by many universities worldwide. The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968.
