Otwell, Indiana
Otwell is an unincorporated census-designated place in Jefferson Township, Pike County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. History Otwell was originally called Pierceville, being named after President Franklin Pierce, and under this name was laid out in 1855. The name was changed to Otwell in 1864 by a popular petition of its residents. The name had to be changed when the post office came because there was already a Pierceville in Indiana. The name Otwell is derived from the middle name of Robert Otwell Brown, the son of an early settler. A post office has been in operation at Otwell since 1864. Geography Otwell is located along Indiana State Road 257 and is approximately 1 mile from Indiana State Road 56. Otwell (Oxford, Maryland)
Otwell is a historic home at Oxford, Talbot County, Maryland. It is a brick house composed of two major parts, the first constructed around 1720–1730, and the other part around 1800–1810. The earliest portion of the building consists of the westerly gambrel roofed structure with a T-shaped plan. At the base of the "T" are appended three small sections with varying roof lines, constructed in the first decade of the 19th century. The interior retains the original floor plan but the decorative detailing was extensively restored following a fire in 1958. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Otwell Twins are an American singing duo made up of identical twin brothers Roger and David, born August 2, 1956, in Tulia, Texas. Ottwell Binns (1872 - 1935) was a British novelist and Unitarian minister. Binns was a prolific author, publishing many novels of adventure and mystery, from 1917 to 1939. His publisher in Britain was Ward Lock. Though he died in 1935, Ward Lock continued to publish novels under his name until 1939. His novel ''A Mating in the Wild'' was published in the U.S. in 1920 by Alfred A. Knopf and the A. L. Burt Company. Binns also published novels with Ward Lock under the pseudonym of Ben Bolt; these were similar in subject matter and treatment to the novels published under his own name.
