Ottu (instrument)
The ottu (or otter) is a double reed wind instrument, used in Carnatic music of Southern India to provide a drone accompaniment to the similar nadaswaram oboe. Like the nadaswaram, the ottu is a large conical instrument, some two and a half feet long. Unlike the nadaswaram, the ottu has no fingerholes, being intended to produce one constant note while playing. It is provided with several small tuning holes which can be stopped with wax to modify its note. In some cases, a shruti box may be used in place of the ottu due to its steadier sound. The player holds the instrument in their left hand, sustaining the sound by inhaling through their nose, and with the right hand, beats on a drum strapped onto a belt. Sampson Ottu Darkoh is a Ghanaian politician who served for the Ga North constituency in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Early life Sampson Ottu Darkoh was born in Ga North in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Politics Ottu began his political journey in 1997 after he was pronounced winner at the 1996 Ghanaian General Elections. He defeated Amadu Bukari Sorgho of the National Democratic Congress and Ibrahim Hollison of the National Independence Party with a close margin. OTTU Jazz Band
Msondo Ngoma (formerly known as NUTA Jazz Band, renamed Juwata Jazz Band, and then OTTU Jazz Band) is an influential and long-lived Tanzanian muziki wa dansi band. Having been established in 1964, it is the oldest active dansi band in Tanzania. History The band began in 1964 and was originally named "NUTA Jazz Band", after its sponsor, the National Union of Tanganyika (NUTA), which was the main Tanzanian trade union. In the early years of dansi, the NUTA Jazz Band was very influential both artistically and in terms of financial organization; namely, it was one of the first dansi bands to constitute itself into a "cooperative" of salaried musicians (a model that would become widespread in the 1970s). In the 1960s, NUTA Jazz Band was led by trumpeter-singer Joseph Lusungu and saxophonist Mnenge Ramadhani, who defined the brass-centered sound of the band. Mango
A mango is an edible stone fruit produced by the tropical tree ''Mangifera indica''. It is believed to have originated in the region between northwestern Myanmar, Bangladesh, and northeastern India.
