Brad Ottens (born 25 January 1980) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Richmond: 1998–2004 Selected at pick 2 in the 1997 AFL Draft, Ottens rose to prominence at Richmond Football Club, Richmond as a strong overhead marker, with an accurate and long kick for goal. He was also a part-time Ruckman (Australian rules football position), ruckman. Lodewijk Frederik Ottens (21 June 1926 – 6 March 2021) was a Dutch engineer and inventor, best known as the inventor of the cassette tape, and for his work in helping to develop the compact disc. Ottens was employed by Philips for the entirety of his career. Early life Ottens was born in Bellingwolde on 21 June 1926. Ottens showed an interest in technology and tinkering from an early age. While in his teens, during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, he constructed a radio that he would use to secretly listen to '' Radio Oranje'' broadcasts. In order to avoid Nazi German jammers, Ottens constructed the radio with a primitive directional antenna. After the war, Ottens began attending the Delft University of Technology, where he studied mechanical engineering. Luke Ottens
Luke Ottens (born 22 May 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is the elder brother of All-Australian and premiership player, Brad Ottens, and the son of Dean Ottens. Early life He is the son of Dean Ottens, who was a talented ruckman for Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Dean played 116 games, won two premierships and representing South Australia seven times. Born on 22 May 1976, Luke grew up in a footballing family. His brother, Brad, had a successful AFL career, winning three premierships with Geelong. Brad claims his earliest memory is "playing in the backyard with uke.
