Leslie B. "Les" Otten (born 1949) is the former CEO of the American Skiing Company. Since resigning as its chief executive officer in 2001, Otten has been involved in numerous other businesses and industries, including the Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox. Early life and career Otten was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he received his early education. He graduated high school from the Hun School of Princeton in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1967 and was named an Alumnus of the Year in 1999. Otten received a B.S. in Business Administration from Ithaca College in 1971, after which he worked for Killington and Sunday River ski resorts. In 1980 he purchased Sunday River, and his company, LBO Resort Enterprises, grew by acquiring Sugarbush, Attitash Bear Peak, and Cranmore in the Vermont-New Hampshire skiing areas. Mark Otten (born 2 September 1985) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a defender. He currently manages the NEC U21 team. Matthew Otten (born December 8, 1981) is an American retired basketball player and current coach. He last held the position of head coach of Donar. Otten holds a Dutch passport as well and played the shooting guard position during his career. The Otten Cup is an annual friendly international youth tournament which is organized by the Dutch football club PSV Eindhoven for under-19 youth teams, and is held at De Herdgang. History Founded in 1947, the tournament was named after Frans Otten the former president of Philips. His name remains engraved in the trophy to this day. In the beginning years, the tournament was a regional cup, which quickly evolved into a national tournament with clubs from all over the country sending their under-19 youth teams for a chance at the trophy. Donald Frederick Otten (April 18, 1921 – September 18, 1985) was an American professional basketball player. A 6'10" center from Bellefontaine High School (Ohio) and Bowling Green State University, Otten began his professional career in 1946 with the Tri-Cities Blackhawks of the National Basketball League. During the 1948–49 NBL season, Otten averaged 14.0 points per game and earned league MVP honors. John Otten
John G. Otten (August 21, 1870 – October 17, 1905) was a catcher for the St. Louis Browns of the National League in 1895. Biography Otten first played baseball in amateur leagues beginning in 1889 after growing up in Chicago. An injury in the catching position led manager Joe Quinn of the St. Louis Browns to get on the wire to bring Otten into the majors. However, his major league career would only last a few games due to an injury suffered on July 7 on a pitch taken to his thumb while attempting a bunt. It affected his ability to catch runners behind the plate and it would continue to hinder for the rest of his playing days. He dabbled in amateur baseball for the next couple of years until 1897. He worked as a book glider for the rest of his days in Chicago before dying of pneumonia in 1905.
