Ottawa Gee Gees Women's Ice Hockey
The Ottawa Gee-Gees represent the University of Ottawa in Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey. Home games are contested at the uOttawa Minto Sports Complex, and the Gee-Gees are members of the Quebec Student Sports Federation. Exhibition NCAA PWHL History Shelley Coolidge became head coach of the program in the spring of 2003. During the 2003-04 campaign, she guided the Gee-Gees to the CIS national championship game where they were defeated by the Alberta Pandas. In 2006-07 she guided the Gee-Gees to a 12-6-0 record, the best in program history. On January 16, 2008, the Gee Gees hosted a game at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, as the Gee-Gees played the Carleton Ravens. In 2008, the Gee-Gees hosted the CIS national tournament and finished with a 1-2 record in the tourney. Ottawa Gee-Gees
The Ottawa Gee-Gees are the athletic teams that represent the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. The Gee-Gees won the national football championship, the Vanier Cup, in 1975 and 2000, while also appearing in the game in the 1970, 1980, and 1997 seasons. The Gee-Gees women's rugby team won the national championship in 2017, and the women's soccer team were national champions in 1996 and 2018. The men's cross country team won three national titles, in 1986, 1987, and 1990. Name The name is a result of a progressive evolution. Similar to many older institutions, their teams were long referred to by the school's colours as the Garnet and Grey (french: Grenat et Gris). Salla Kyhälä
Salla Kyhälä, (born January 28, 1983, in Espoo), is a retired elite Finnish ringette player and world champion in both ringette and ice cross downhill. She played semi-pro ringette as a centre for in the elite Finnish semi-professional league, SM Ringette and the Saskatoon Wild and BC Thunder in Canada's semi-pro National Ringette League. Kyhälä was also member of the Finland national ringette team several times. Kyhälä was also the Women's World Champion in the World Extreme Downhill Skating Championships in the sport of Ice cross downhill (a.k a. Extreme Downhill Skating) three times. Alicia Blomberg
Alicia Furletti-Blomberg (born 1989) is a Canadian ball hockey player and member of the Canadian national ball hockey team. She is a three-time Ball Hockey World Championship gold medallist with the Canadian team, winning in 2013, 2015 and 2022. During 2012 to 2015, Blomberg competed in the women's division of Red Bull Crashed Ice, capturing a bronze medal in 2014. Crashed Ice (full official name: ''Red Bull Crashed Ice'') is a world tour in the winter extreme sporting event, '' ice cross downhill'' (or downhill ice cross), which involves downhill skating in an urban environment, on a track which includes steep turns and high vertical drops. Racers speed down the course's turns, berms, and jumps. Competitors, having advanced from one of the tryouts in the prior months, race in heats of four skaters, with the top two advancing from each heat. The event was renamed, " Ice cross downhill" after the 2019 season. The series was created and is managed by energy drinks company Red Bull. Fannie Desforges
Fannie Desforges is a Canadian ice hockey forward. She is the second Canadian woman to win a competition in the Red Bull Crashed Ice competition. In addition, she has competed for the Ottawa Gee Gees women's ice hockey program in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, while competing for the Canada women's national ball hockey team at the 2011 Street and Ball Hockey World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
