Oti Region
The Oti Region is one of the six newly created regions of Ghana in December 2018. The region was carved out of the northern part of the Volta Region and will be in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party. Prior to the 2016 Ghanaian general election, the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo declared that when elected, he would explore the possibility of creating new regions out of some of the existing regions in Ghana in order to bring government closer to citizens. History The execution of plans for the creation of the regions was seeded to the newly created Ministry of Regional Reorganization and Development which is under the leadership of Hon. Dan Botwe. Regions Of Ghana
The Regions of Ghana constitute the first level of subnational government administration within the Republic of Ghana. As of 2020, there are currently sixteen regions, which are further divided for administrative purposes into 260 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). Current regions The former ten regional boundaries were officially established in 1987, when the Upper West Region was inaugurated as the state's newest administrative region. Although the official inauguration was in 1987, the Upper West Region had already functioned as an administrative unit since the break-up of the Upper Region in December 1982, prior to the 1984 national census. Kpassa
Kpassa is the capital of Nkwanta North District, a district in the Oti Region of Ghana. The Oti Region was part of the Volta Region of Ghana until 2019. The inhabitants of Kpassa are mostly Konkomba people. The other inhabitants are Basare. The Bassares and famous for their fire dance.There are also Akan, Ewe, Anufo, Krachi and Gonja people. In the past, the inhabitants of Kpassa have mainly engaged in farming. This trend has changed during the past two decades. Younger inhabitants are actively pursuing education and small-scale business activities, while the older ones are into governance. As a result, Kpassa has undergone rapid expansion during these past two decades. The town is expected to expand further once the Eastern Corridor Road Project is completed. Nkwanta North District (french: Nkwanta Nord) is one of the eight districts in Oti Region, Ghana. Jasikan
Jasikan is a small town and is the capital of Jasikan district, a district in the Oti Region of Ghana. It is home to Bueman Secondary School and Jasikan College of Education. It is the local business hub for Buem enclave and the seat of government for the district. The main language in the area is Leleme, and cocoa is the cash crop.
