Otar Military Base
Otar Military Base is a military installation of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan located near Otar, in the Zhambyl District, Almaty Region, Kazakhstan. Description Military drills between Kazakhstan and its neighbors such as India, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Russia. On some occasions, Cadets and enlisted personnel, are selected to undergo training at the base. Kazakhstan has held military parades at the military base in May 2013 and May 2018, in order to celebrate the Defender of the Fatherland Day holiday for the first time ever. During the latter parade, a woman was promoted to the rank of General for the first time in Kazakh military history. In early August 2018, the base hosted the Masters of Artillery Fire contest, held during the International Army Games that year. Central Military Band Of The Ministry Of Defense Of Kazakhstan
The Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan is a military music unit made for state ceremonies carried out by the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan. Background It was formed on November 8, 1995 in accordance with the Directive of the Minister of Defense, Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov. Shortly after its foundation, Colonel Alexander Belyakov ( Russian: Александр Викторович Беляков) joined the band as its senior director. Belyakov was commissioned to lead the band by Nurmagambetov after his role in the Victory Day Parade on Republic Square that year. In 2012, the orchestra was relocated from the city of Almaty to Astana. Defender of the Fatherland Day ( Kazakh: Отан Қорғаушы күні, ''Otan Qorğauşy künı'') is a national holiday celebrated annually on May 7, commemorating the founding of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. The event is marked by military parades, fireworks and ceremonies all around the country. The holiday is perceived in society as "a men’s day" and is considered to be the Kazakh analogue to the International Women’s Day. The International Army Games is an annual international military sports event organized by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Russia.
