Osvaldo Ramón López
Osvaldo Ramón López (born 4 September 1971) is an Argentine lawyer and politician, who was a National Senator for Tierra del Fuego from 2011 to 2013. He took office in the Senate in replacement of José Carlos Martínez following Martínez's death in 2011. Upon being sworn in, López became the first openly gay member of the Argentine Congress. López belongs to the New Encounter party, and formerly formed part of Affirmation for a Republic of Equals (ARI). He served as a member of the legislature of Tierra del Fuego from 2009 to 2011. As of 2021, he remains the only openly LGBT person to have served in the Argentine Senate. The Honorable Senate of the Argentine Nation ( es, Honorable Senado de la Nación Argentina) is the upper house of the National Congress of Argentina. Overview The National Senate was established by the Argentine Confederation on July 29, 1854, pursuant to Articles 46 to 54 of the 1853 Constitution. There are 72 members: three for each province and three for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The number of senators per province was raised from two to three following the 1994 amendment of the Argentine Constitution as well as the addition of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires' senators. María Rosa Díaz
María Rosa Díaz de Vazquez (born 28 February 1953, Firmat) is an Argentine politician, formerly of the Support for an Egalitarian Republic (ARI) party. She sat in the Argentine Senate representing Tierra del Fuego Province from 2007 to 2013. A teacher, Díaz moved to Tierra del Fuego in 1987. She began teaching in Ushuaia in 1990, working until her retirement in 2007. From December 2001 until December 2004, she served as part of the directorate of the provincial institute of social security (IPAUSS). She stood to be national deputy in 2005 and was elected as Senator in 2007, assuming office in December of that year. Mabel Luisa Caparrós (born 9 January 1956) is an Argentine psychologist and politician, currently serving as National Deputy elected in Tierra del Fuego. Caparrós previously served as a National Senator for Tierra del Fuego from 2001 to 2007. Historically a member of the Justicialist Party, since 2019 she is a member of the FORJA Concertation Party, and currently forms part of the Frente de Todos. 2013 Argentine Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Argentina on 27 October 2013. Open primary elections (PASO) were previously held on 11 August 2013 to determine eligible party lists for the general election. As in 2011 – when such primaries were held for the first time – each party list had to reach a 1.5% threshold at the provincial level in order to proceed to the 27 October polls. ''El Tribuno'' is an Argentine newspaper and media group from Salta Province. Widely criticized for its pro- Peronist tilt, it is the only newspaper in Salta Province, and also publishes a Jujuy Province edition. Founded by Jaime and Ricardo Durán, its initial installations had belonged to ''La Provincia'', the leading daily in Salta for much of the early 20th century. Tolhuin
Tolhuin is a town in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. It has 2,949 inhabitants as per the . It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Fagnano, in the southern part of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. It is the third largest settlement on the Argentine side of Tierra del Fuego after Ushuaia and Río Grande. Tolhuin was founded on October 9, 1972. The word means "''like a heart''" in Selk'nam language. It lies on National Route 3, and is the only town between the cities of Ushuaia (about 103 kilometres to the south) and Río Grande (about 133 kilometres to the north) on this motorway.
