Osvaldo Roberto Suárez (March 17, 1934 in Wilde, Buenos Aires, Wilde – 16 February 2018) was a long-distance track event, long-distance runner from Argentina who won four gold medals at the Pan American Games. He was punished by the ''Revolución Libertadora'' (''The Liberating Revolution'') and blamed for receiving favors to travel (even being a famous and successful athlete), so he could not be at the 1956 Summer Olympics, 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. After that, he represented his native country at two Summer Olympics, in 1960 and 1964. After retiring from his running career, he became a professional athletics coach. Osvaldo Alonso Moreno (born November 11, 1985) is a Cuban professional footballer who currently plays as a defensive midfielder for Atlanta United FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). He defected from Cuba in 2007 and became a U.S. citizen in 2012. During his decade-long career with Seattle Sounders FC, Alonso played as a defensive midfielder who was known for his style of harassing, tackling and covering the field, while getting forward to supply enough offense to be considered a threat. This style of play had earned the nickname "Honey Badger" from Seattle fans for his fearless, aggressive playing style. Osvaldo Noé Golijov (; born December 5, 1960) is an Argentine composer of classical music and music professor, known for his vocal and orchestral work. Biography Osvaldo Golijov was born in and grew up in La Plata, Argentina, in a Jewish family that immigrated to Argentina from Romania. His mother was a piano teacher, and his father was a physician. He studied piano in La Plata and studied composition with Gerardo Gandini. In 1983, Golijov immigrated to Israel, where he studied with Mark Kopytman at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. Three years later, he studied with George Crumb at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree. In 1991, Golijov joined the faculty of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was named Loyola Professor of Music in 2007. Osvaldo Jeanty (born August 1, 1983) is a Canadian basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is one of the all-time greats of the Carleton University Ravens men's basketball team and a member of the Ravens' Hall of Fame. Jeanty was named ''CIS male athlete of the year'' in 2006, and ''CIS basketball player of the year'' in 2006 and 2007. He also played on Canada's men's national team. Upon graduation, he spent six years playing professionally in Germany, Morocco, Romania and in the NBL Canada. He retired from professional basketball in November 2013. Born and raised in Argentina, Osvaldo represented the Italy national team internationally. Osvaldo began his career at Huracán in 2005 and the following year moved to Italy in a co-ownership deal between Serie B clubs Atalanta and Lecce, later playing in the top flight for Fiorentina and Bologna. Osvaldo Valenti (17 February 1906 – 30 April 1945) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1928 and 1945. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey to a Sicilian carpet trader and a wealthy Lebanese woman of Greek descent. Osvaldo Sosa
Osvaldo Sosa (26 January 1945 – 6 July 2020) was an Argentine football manager and player who worked as the manager of Atlético Tucumán in the Primera División Argentina. Playing career Sosa began his playing career in 1964 with Almagro. In 1966 he joined Primera División side Argentinos Juniors where he played over 100 games over his two stints with the club. He also played for Independiente and Ferro Carril Oeste. Managerial career Sosa had his first attempt at management as the player-coach of Argentinos Juniors between 1970 and 1971. He went on to manage the club another 5 times (1974, 1981, 1992–94, 1997-2000 and 2004-05).
