Ossining Union Free School District is a school district headquartered in the Village of Ossining, Town of Ossining, New York. The district includes sections of the towns of Ossining and New Castle. Included within the portions of the school district in Ossining Town are Ossining Village and a section of Briarcliff Manor. About 28% of Briarcliff Manor is in the Ossining District, including Chilmark. Ray Sanchez is the superintendent: that year he won the "Superintendent to Watch" award. Ossining is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population at the 2020 United States census was 27,551, an increase over 25,060 at the 2010 census. As a village, it is located in the town of Ossining. Geography Ossining borders the eastern shores of the widest part of the Hudson River, the Tappan Zee. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.3 square miles (16.4 km2), of which 3.2 square miles (8.3 km2) is land and 3.1 square miles (8.1 km2) (49.37%) is water. Demographics As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 25,060 people living in the village. Ossining is a town located along the Hudson River in Westchester County, New York. The population was 40,061 at the time of the 2020 census. It contains two villages, the Village of Ossining and part of Briarcliff Manor, the rest of which is located in the Town of Mount Pleasant. Ossining is the location of Sing Sing maximum-security prison. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 15.6 square miles (40.4 km2), of which 11.7 square miles (30.3 km2) is land and 3.9 square miles (10.1 km2) (25.06%) is water. Ossining is bounded on the west by the Hudson River and on the north by the Croton River. New Castle, New York
New Castle is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 18,311 in the 2020 United States census, an increase over 17,569 at the 2010 census. It includes the hamlets of Chappaqua and Millwood. History New Castle was originally inhabited by Native Americans, including the Siwanoy band of the Wappinger people. Portions of New Castle were initially purchased in 1640 by Nathaniel Turner from Ponas Sagamore, chief of the Siwanoy. In 1661, John Richbell purchased land, including all of present-day New Castle, from the Siwanoy. In 1696, Caleb Heathcote purchased that tract of land from Richbell's widow. Briarcliff Manor () is a suburban village in Westchester County, New York, north of New York City. It is on of land on the east bank of the Hudson River, geographically shared by the towns of Mount Pleasant and Ossining. Briarcliff Manor includes the communities of Scarborough and Chilmark, and is served by the Scarborough station of the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line. Ossining High School (OHS) is a comprehensive public high school located in Ossining, New York, United States, along the Hudson River in northern Westchester County, New York. Serving grades 9 through 12, it is the sole high school within the Ossining Union Free School District.
