Osnabrück Land
Osnabrück Land (german: Osnabrücker Land) is a region in southwest Lower Saxony in Germany, which extends into the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Its centre is the city of Osnabrück. The region is dominated by the Teutoburg Forest and the River Hase. Originally a variant of Low German was spoken here which belonged to the East-Westphalian dialect. The region is generally identified with the district and city of Osnabrück, which largely corresponds to the Prince-Bishopric of Osnabrück in the Holy Roman Empire. The Osnabrück Land Regional Association (''Landschaftsverband Osnabrücker Land'') looks after cultural issues for the region. Location The southern part of Osnabrück Land borders on Münsterland in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. To the west the Tecklenburg Land is the natural continuation of the Osnabrück Land into North Rhine-Westphalia. To the southeast is the Ravensberg Land. Dümmer
The Dümmer () or officially Dümmer See is a large lake in southern Lower Saxony (Germany). It has a surface of 13.5 km2 and an average depth of one metre. Its elevation is 37 metres. Dümmer is a popular resort for water sports, but also an important biotope for water birds and located in a zone especially frequented by migratory birds. A large section of its shore is protected by nature reserve areas. Location The Dümmer is located in the Dümmer depression. One and a half miles to the west, the Damme Hills begin to rise, eventually reaching a height of 145 m. Around the lake are fens (''Niedermoore'') and raised bogs (''Hochmoore''). The lake lies in the Dümmer Nature Park, which is just under 500 km2 in area, and in which the Damme Hills and Stemweder Berg form the central elements of the landscape. Johann Sebastian Bach (28 July 1750) was a German composer and musician of the late Baroque period. Bad Iburg (; Westphalian: ''Bad Ibig'') is a spa town in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the Teutoburg Forest, 16 km south of Osnabrück. The Ankum Heights (german: Ankumer Höhe), also called the Fürstenau Hills (''Fürstenauer Berge''), are a ridge of hills up to 140 m high in the western part of the state of Lower Saxony on the North German Plain.
