Oslo Opera
The Oslo Opera House ( no, Operahuset) is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building is situated in the Bjørvika neighbourhood of central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. It is operated by Statsbygg, the government agency which manages property for the Norwegian government. The structure contains 1,100 rooms in a total area of . The main auditorium seats 1,364 and two other performance spaces can seat 200 and 400. The main stage is wide and deep. The angled exterior surfaces of the building are covered with Carrara marble, marble from Carrara, Italy and white granite and make it appear to rise from the water. It is the largest cultural building constructed in Norway since Nidarosdomen was completed circa 1300. She Lies
''She Lies'' is a public sculpture by Monica Bonvicini made of stainless steel and glass panels measuring approximately by by next to the Oslo Opera House, in Norway. It is a permanent installation, Buoyancy, floating on the water in the fjord on a concrete platform, rising above the water surface. The sculpture turns on its Rotation around a fixed axis, axis in line with the tide and wind, offering changing experiences through Mirror image, reflections from the water and its Transparency and translucency, transparent surfaces. Artist The sculpture was made by Bonvicini as a Three-dimensional space, three-dimensional interpretation of Caspar David Friedrich, Caspar David Friedrich's painting ''The Sea of Ice'' (''Das Eismeer'') (1823–1824).
