Oskar Braaten
Oskar Braaten (25 November 1881 – 17 July 1939) was a Norwegian novelist and playwright. Biography Oskar Alexander Braaten was born in Sagene, a borough of the city of Oslo. Sagene was one of Norway's oldest industrial areas dating to the mid-19th century. Oskar Braaten attended school in Sagene until he was 15 years old. In 1899, he was hired by antiquarian bookstore Bertrand Jensen, where he remained until 1910. Though born and raised in Oslo, Braaten joined the mostly rural landsmål-movement. Braaten is best known for his popular plays and novels depicting the life of factory workers alongside Akerselva in Oslo. He published seven novels between 1917 and 1925. Braaten convey a new image of the Oslo not seen before in literature. Braaten was able to provide vivid and richly nuanced images of working-class life on the east side of Oslo during a historical period of industrialization. Gander International Airport is located in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and is operated by the Gander International Airport Authority. Hans Jacob Nilsen
Hans Jacob Nilsen (8 November 1897 – 6 March 1957) was a Norwegian actor, theatre director and film director. He was a theatre director at Den Nationale Scene, at Folketeatret, and for two separate periods at Det Norske Teatret. Personal life Nilsen was born in Fredrikstad, a son of Otto Marquard Orning Nilsen and Sara Lorentzen. He married Sophie Munch Roede in 1958. Their daughter Grethe Nilsen was married to politician Knut Frydenlund. He died in Oslo on 6 March 1957. Career First trained as a mechanical engineer, Nilsen started his theatrical career as an actor. He worked as a stage actor in Bergen, Trondheim and Oslo. He was appointed theatre director at Det Norske Teatret from 1933 to 1934, and was theatre director at Den Nationale Scene from 1934 to 1939. His film debut was in ''Syndere i sommersol'' from 1934, and he also played in ''To levende og en død'' from 1937. Nordre Aker (Northern Aker) is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. History This area became part of the city of Oslo in 1948. Before that it was a part of Aker municipality in the former Akershus county. Demographics and housing With a population of 52,327 (1 January 2020) Nordre Aker ranks fifth among the boroughs.
