Oscar Rodríguez Naranjo
Oscar Rodríguez Naranjo (1907–2006) was a painter from Socorro, Santander Department, Colombia. His works include mainly oil paintings and sculptures. Rodríguez Naranjo studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Bogotá. Owing to the talent he displayed he was able to obtain scholarships for the Académie Julian and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He came back from France during the Second World War and settled in Bucaramanga. Rodríguez Naranjo taught at the art school while he made a number of paintings that would build up his reputation in Colombia. In 1941 he became the Director of the Academia de Bellas Artes in Bucaramanga. The main themes of his paintings were portraits, including religious figures, nudes and landscapes. Rodríguez Naranjo was one of the most outstanding and representative artists of the Colombian Santander region. Socorro, Santander
Socorro is a town and municipality in the Santander Department in northeastern Colombia. It was founded in 1681 by José de Archila and José Díaz Sarmiento.The town was very influential in the history of Colombia. There began the revolt of the Comuneros of 1781 against the oppression of Spanish rule. Socorro was the capital of Santander between 1862 and 1886. José Antonio Galán
José Antonio Galán (c. 1749 in Charalá, Santander (New Kingdom of Granada) – February 2, 1782 in Santafé de Bogotá (Id.)) was a Neogranadine historical figure of the 18th century. He was the leader of the Comuneros insurrection in 1781, who was then sentenced and executed by the Spanish. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). Dario Ortiz Robledo (born September 12, 1968) is a Colombian artist. Biography Ortiz, a self-taught artist, was born in Ibagué, Colombia. He graduated from the Colegio San Tarsicio in Bogotá in 1986. He studied History and Art Appreciation in the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in 1990–1991. Since 1995, he has been a contributor to the Ibaque newspaper, ''El Nuevo Día''. San Gil
San Gil is a town municipality in the Department of Santander in northeastern Colombia, located roughly 300 km (192 mi) from Bogotá and 95 km from the department's capital, Bucaramanga. As of 2020, San Gil had a population of roughly 46,000 people within the total municipal area, making it the third largest urban area in the department, after Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja. Founded in 1689, San Gil is over 300 years old. It was officially named the tourist capital of the region in 2004, thanks to its outdoor activity opportunities such as rafting, caving, kayaking and hiking.
