Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library
is a major library in the Nakanoshima section of Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It was established in 1904; and is today one of two libraries which are supported by the Osaka Prefectural government. History of the building The Neo-baroque style is enhanced with four massive columns which stand at the building's front entrance. The building's stone walls harmonize with the other structures build on the island in the same period. The library's copper roof dome is a distinctive feature.Japan-iClassic Architectural Structures in Nakanoshima Initial construction was completed in 1904; and additional construction work in 1922 created an exterior appearance which remains to this day. The main building and both wings were designated as important cultural assets in 1974. It continues to function as a public library. The library is located in the vicinity of Nakanoshima Park. The is an Independent Administrative Institution of the Japanese government, responsible for producing and circulating the coins of Japan. The agency has its head office in Osaka with branches in Saitama and Hiroshima. The Japan Mint does not produce paper money; that responsibility belongs to the National Printing Bureau. Nakanoshima Park
The Nakanoshima Park (中之島公園 ''Nakanoshima kōen'') is the first public park opened by Osaka in 1891, after its foundation as a city. It is located in Kita ward, on the Nakanoshima (中之島) sandbank, lying between Dōjima and Tosabori Rivers. The 11 hectare park houses public facilities such as Osaka Central Public Hall (built in 1918), Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library and Museum of Oriental Ceramics. It also holds a rose garden. The Baroque Revival, also known as Neo-Baroque (or Second Empire architecture in France and Wilhelminism in Germany), was an architectural style of the late 19th century.
