Orrin Thompson
Orrin Christopher Thompson (born November 11, 1982) is a former Canadian football guard and offensive tackle. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played college football at Duke. Thompson has been a member of the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, New York Sentinels and Hartford Colonials. He is the older brother of NFL defensive end and former Packers teammate Jeremy Thompson. Professional career Miami Dolphins Thompson was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in April 2005. Despite playing defensive tackle in college, he was moved to the offensive line with the Dolphins. He was waived on August 30, 2005, and was subsequently signed to the team's practice squad, where he spent the entire season. In 2006, Thompson was allocated to NFL Europa by the Dolphins but was unable to play due to injury. He was once again released following training camp and re-signed to the practice squad. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. 2008 NFL Draft
The 2008 NFL Draft was the 73rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 26 and April 27, 2008. For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN televised the draft; the NFL Network also broadcast the event, its third year doing so. Of the 252 selections, 220 were regular selections in rounds one through seven, and 32 were compensatory selections, distributed among rounds three through seven. As of the end of the 2018 season, 27 players have been selected to the Pro Bowl. For the first time since the common draft began, no wide receiver was selected in the first round.
