Andrew Downey Orrick
Andrew Downey Orrick (October 18, 1917 – January 27, 2008) was a partner with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and the acting chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in San Francisco. Biography He was born on October 18, 1917, in San Francisco, California, to William Horsley Orrick Sr. He had a brother, William Horsley Orrick Jr. Downey graduated from Yale University in 1940, where he was a member of Skull and Bones. At Yale, while playing for the Yale baseball team, he hit the longest home run. He served during World War II, then attended UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He then joined Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in 1947. He was San Francisco chairman of Citizens for Eisenhower in 1952. In 1962 he was the Northern California chairman of Richard Nixon's campaign for Governor of California. William Orrick III
William Horsley Orrick III (born May 15, 1953) is an American lawyer and judge. A native of San Francisco, Orrick has been a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California since 2013. He formerly had a long career as a lawyer in private practice in San Francisco, and served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice during the Obama administration. Early life and education Orrick was born in San Francisco on May 15, 1953. His father, William H. Orrick Jr. (1915–2003), was a United States District Judge for the Northern District of California and served as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division in the John F. Orrick, Missouri
Orrick is a town in Ray County, Missouri, and part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 753 at the 2020 census. History The first community in the area was Albany when it was established by Ely Carter in 1854. When he applied for a post office it was denied because there was another Albany already in the state and he used the name of his wife Ada for the post office but still continued to call the town Albany. "Bloody Bill" Anderson was killed during the American Civil War during the Battle of Albany on October 24, 1864. Albany formally incorporated in 1871 however by then St. Louis, Kansas City and Northern Star railroad (the Wabash Railroad) laid tracks a mile south in 1868 and 1869 and a new community of Orrick sprung up around them. History Founded in San Francisco in 1863, Orrick earliest work included funding the Golden Gate Bridge construction, shaping the California Corporate Securities Act and the first offerings under the Securities Act of 1933, and litigating over hydroelectric power and water development rights in the Lake Tahoe region.
