David Orrell
David John Orrell (born 1962 in Edmonton) is a Canadian writer and mathematician. He received his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Oxford. His work in the prediction of complex systems such as the weather, genetics and the economy has been featured in New Scientist, the Financial Times, The Economist, Adbusters, BBC Radio, Russia-1, and CBC TV. He now conducts research and writes in the areas of systems biology and economics, and runs a mathematical consultancy Systems Forecasting. He is the son of theatre historian and English professor John Orrell. His books have been translated into over ten languages. Eddie Orrell
Ralph Edward Orrell (born February 7, 1965) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Northside-Westmount in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from June 2011 to July 2019 as a Progressive Conservative. On June 21, 2011, Orrell was elected in a byelection for the electoral district of Cape Breton North. In the 2013 provincial election, Orrell was re-elected in the new riding of Northside-Westmount. He was re-elected in the 2017 election. On May 10, 2019, Orrell announced he will seek the Conservative nomination in Sydney—Victoria for the 2019 federal election. On July 15, 2019, it was announced that Orrell was selected as the candidate. Orrell resigned his provincial seat on July 31, 2019. John Orrell
John Orrell (December 31, 1934 – September 16, 2003) was a British author, theatre historian, and English professor at the University of Alberta. The ''New York Times'' described him as the "historian whose intellectual detective work laid the groundwork for the 1997 re-creation of Shakespeare’s original Globe Theater." Life and work Orrell was born in Kent, England. After completing his National Service as a pilot at the NATO base in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he obtained a degree in English at University College, Oxford, followed by a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. In 1961 he joined the English department at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where he lived for the rest of his life. Orrell wrote and presented documentaries for CBC Television on a wide range of subjects, from Louis Riel to avalanche control to the Renaissance and Elizabethan culture. John Orrell Lever
John Orrell Lever (1824 – 4 August 1897) was an English shipping owner and politician who sat in the House of Commons in two periods between 1859 and 1885. Lever was the eldest son of James Lever of Manchester, and the descendant of Sir Ashton Lever. He was interested in railways and shipping, being a director of the South Wales Railway and the Atlantic Royal Mail Steam Navigation Co. He was responsible for establishing Galway as a packet-station. He was the sole lessee of the Thames and Channel Passenger Service and wrote several works. Business Lever had diverse business interests, including cotton, linen, and corn mills in Lancashire and Ireland, the exports of finished products from Liverpool, and especially steam shipping. During the Crimean War, he created several charter companies with Thomas Howard to ship soldiers and supplies to the war. This wartime activity led to a large profit. Marc John Orrell (born November 7, 1982) is an American guitarist known for being a former member of the Boston Celtic Punk band the Dropkick Murphys. Timothy Orrell (born 25 November 1967) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Lancashire during the 1991 season. Orrell was born in Prestwich, Lancashire. Orrell's cricketing career started in 1986, when he played a game in an Oxford and Cambridge Festival tournament, for a Lancashire side which run out ten-wicket winners.
