Orne (Moselle)
The Orne () is a river in Grand Est, north-eastern France, which is a left tributary of the Moselle and sub-tributary of the Rhine. Its source is in the hills northeast of Verdun. It flows east and joins the Moselle near Mondelange, between Metz and Thionville. Name "Orne" may originate from ''autura'' (a river, ''cf.'' Eure), or ''onna'' (a river) as mentioned in Endlicher's glossary of Gallic names ''De nominibus Gallicis'', in which these words are translated into Latin as ''flumen''. If so, then there is no relationship with the name of the Orne river in Normandy, which is referred to as the ''Olina'' by Ptolemy, a homonym of ''Fluvius Olne'', the Orne saosnoise in Sarthe, which Xavier Delamarre traces back to the Celtic ''olīnā'' (elbow). Woëvre
The Woëvre () (German: ''Waberland'') is a natural region of Lorraine in northeastern France. It forms part of Lorraine plateau and lies largely in the department of Meuse. Along with the Côtes de Moselle, the Woëvre is one of the areas in Lorraine that receives the least rainfall; nonetheless, its river system is very important and feeds into the Lac de Madine. Location It lies on the right bank of the river Meuse, from the valley of the Chiers in the north to the town of Neufchâteau in the south. To the west, the region follows the Meuse, and to the east, it extends into the neighboring department of Meurthe-et-Moselle. The Lac de Madine lies in the Woëvre, like does the western part of the Parc naturel régional de Lorraine. Neighboring natural regions include the Côtes de Meuse on the left bank of the Meuse, the Barrois to the south and the Côtes de Moselle to the east. Xavier Delamarre
Xavier Delamarre (; born 5 June 1954) is a French linguist, lexicographer, and diplomat. He is regarded as one of the world's foremost authorities on the Gaulish language. Since 2019, he has been an associate researcher for the CNRS- PSL AOrOc laboratory (Archéologie & Philologie d'Orient et d'Occident). Along with Pierre-Yves Lambert, he is also the co-administrator of ''Thesaurus Paleo-Celticus'', a CNRS project launched in 2019 and aiming to update and replace Alfred Holder's ''Alt-celtischer Sprachschatz'' (1913). With linguist Romain Garnier, Delamarre is the co-publishing editor of ''Wékwos'', a journal founded in 2014 and devoted to Indo-European comparative linguistics. Auboué
Auboué is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in northeastern France. Early years An 1832 plan of the village of Auboué shows 50–60 houses, sheds, barns and stables on each side of the Orne river. The church of Coinville had been built, but the church of Auboué had not yet been built, although the location had been set aside and is marked on the plan. At the end of the 19th century there were 100 voters, but ten families of farmers and craftsmen ran the village, sitting in the 10-person municipal council. Often a son or son-in-law succeeded his father or father-in-law. Industrialization Xavier Rogé of the Société de Pont-à-Mousson began to investigate land around Auboué, and on 1 December 1882 found the upper layers of the iron oxide formation of the Briey Basin. The survey then stopped, since the company undertaking it declared that the iron oxide formation had been completely crossed.
