Orlando Le Fleming
Antony Orlando Frank le Fleming (born 7 July 1976) is a jazz musician and English cricketer. Biography Cricket Orlando le Fleming made his county debut for Devon in the 1992 Minor Counties Championship against Cheshire. At the age of 15, he was the second youngest player to turn out for Devon. He was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. From 1992 to 1996, he represented Devon in 24 Minor Counties Championship matches, with his final match coming against Shropshire. He also played two List-A matches for Devon, the first of which came in the 1994 NatWest Trophy against Yorkshire, where le Fleming took 2/42. His second and final List-A game came against Essex in the 1996 NatWest Trophy. In 1995 he played eight Second Eleven Championship matches for the Somerset Second XI. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Yorkshire. Harvey Mason
Harvey William Mason (born February 22, 1947) is an American jazz drummer, record producer, and member of the band Fourplay. Mason, who attended Berklee in the 1960s, received an Honorary Doctorate at Berklee's 2015 Commencement Ceremony for his achievement and influence in music and for his enduring contributions to American and international culture. Life and career Mason was born and grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States, and attended Atlantic City High School. He began playing drums at the age of four with the support of his father, a drummer in the army band. Billy Cobham
William Emanuel Cobham Jr. (born May 16, 1944) is a Panamanian Americans, Panamanian–American jazz drummer who came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. He was inducted into the ''Modern Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 1987 and the ''Classic Drummer'' Hall of Fame in 2013. Joey Calderazzo
Joseph Dominick Calderazzo (February 27, 1965) is a jazz pianist and brother of musician Gene Calderazzo. He played extensively in bands led by Michael Brecker and Branford Marsalis, and has also led his own bands. Early life Calderazzo was born in New Rochelle, New York. He began studying classical piano at age eight. His brother, Gene, got him interested in jazz. He studied with Richard Beirach and in the 1980s continued his studies at Berklee College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. At the same time, he was playing professionally with David Liebman and Frank Foster. Seamus Blake
Seamus Blake (born December 8, 1970) is a British-born Canadian tenor saxophonist. Early life and education Blake was born in London, England and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His mother introduced him to jazz when he was a child and he later attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Career Upon graduation, he moved to New York City. In February 2002, he won the Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition. He currently plays with his own quintet (featuring David Kikoski, Lage Lund, Bill Stewart, and Matt Clohesy) and has been a regular with the Mingus Big Band as well as many other New York musicians. Lage Lund
Lage Fosheim Lund (born 12 December 1977) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist. Early life and education Initially aspiring to become a professional skateboarder, Lund began playing guitar at the age of 13. He later founded a jazz trio and performing in local clubs. Lund earned a scholarship he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he regularly performed at Wally's Cafe. In 2002, Lund was the recipient of a Fulbright Foundation grant, which gave him the opportunity to move to New York City. In 2003, he entered the Juilliard School scholarship jazz program and graduated in 2005. He won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2005. Iain Ballamy
Iain Ballamy (born 20 February 1964) is a British composer and saxophonist. He is considered one of the greatest modern jazz saxophonists. Career Ballamy was born in Guildford, Surrey, and educated at George Abbot School, Guildford, from 1975 to 1980. He then studied Musical Instrument Technology from 1980 to 1982 at Merton College. He took piano lessons from age of 6 to 14. He discovered saxophone in 1978 with three lessons and his first professional gig was in 1980. He played Ronnie Scotts as Iain Ballamy Quartet at age 20. Tommy Smith (saxophonist)
Thomas William Ellis Smith is a Scottish jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator. Early life Smith was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Scottish parents Brenda Ann Urquhart, and father, William John Ellis, whom he never met. Smith was brought up in the Wester Hailes area of the city, where he was encouraged by his stepfather, George Smith, an avid jazz fan and drummer in the Gene Krupa style, to take up the tenor saxophone at the age of twelve. When he was thirteen he attended a weekly jazz workshop under the direction of Gordon Cruikshank. He met pathologist and pianist Vincenzo Crucioli, who became a mentor. With drummer John Rae, his first group won Edinburgh International Jazz Festival Best Group award in 1981. At fourteen Smith won 'Best Soloist'. Jason Rebello
Jason Matthew Rebello (born 29 March 1969) is a British pianist, songwriter, and record producer. Career Rebello was born in Carshalton, Surrey. His father's family is from India. Rebello was raised a Catholic in Wandsworth, London. He was classically trained beginning at the age of 19 at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He emerged in the late 1980s as a jazz pianist influenced by Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. In his early 20s he recorded three solo albums, beginning with his debut album ''A Clearer View'' (1990), which was produced by Wayne Shorter and led to him appearing on the cover of ''The Wire'' magazine. He also worked with Jean Toussaint, Tommy Smith, and Branford Marsalis, and presented '' Artrageous!'' on BBC television.
