Orkney Football Club is a senior association football club from the Orkney Islands, Scotland. The club was founded in 2012 and competes in the North Caledonian Football League. History In 2012, the Orkney Amateur Football Association (OAFA) embarked on a strategy of seeking further games against teams from the Highlands & Islands. That year, the Orkney Football Club were formed for entry in the North Caledonian Football Association's cup competitions. The club's formation had been driven by a desire for several decades for Orkney football players to be given more opportunities to compete at a higher level with the aim of improving the standard of Orkney's most popular sport. Orkney gained full membership of the North Caledonian FA ahead of the 2014–15 season, becoming the first non-mainland club to play in the North Caledonian League itself. Holm, Orkney
Holm (pronounced ) is a parish on Mainland, Orkney.Wilson, Rev. John ''The Gazetteer of Scotland'' (Edinburgh, 1882) Published by W. & A.K. Dounby
Dounby () is a village on Mainland in Orkney, in the north of Scotland. Dounby village is situated at the crossroads of what are now the A986 and B9057, and has grown close to the meeting point of the three parishes of Sandwick, Birsay and Harray (mainly lying in Sandwick). Kirkwall Grammar School
Kirkwall Grammar School is a secondary school in Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland. It was established in . The current school building was opened in 2014. History Kirkwall Grammar School was established in 1200 when Bishop Bjarni established a cathedral school where his clergy taught singing and Latin. In 1760, £60 was donated in order to repair and build two schools. These plans resulted in two new schools being built north of St Magnus Cathedral. A new Kirkwall Grammar School building opened in 1973, and pupils were accommodated into the new building in groups over time, eventually all being housed in the building by summer 1975. This school building housed the city’s swimming pool. It was demolished in stages starting in Autumn 2011, and in December 2013 the building shut its doors to pupils. The Pickaquoy Centre
The Pickaquoy Centre is a multi-use leisure centre in Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland. The arena has 1,600-seat stands, and can be condensed and used as a sports hall, with room for two five a side football pitches. The football pitches host Orkney F.C. of the North Caledonian Football League and also the Orkney official football team. The 2019–20 North Caledonian Football League (known for sponsorship reasons as the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League) was the 111th season of the North Caledonian Football League. The season began on 7 September 2019 and was declared void due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland on 18 May 2020. Golspie Sutherland were the defending champions.
